Players can find Lucifer Rotsac on the ocean floor in Subnautica 2. This resource is attached to the distinctive star-shaped coral formations, called Cradle Shootroot, with a bright orange glow at the center. To reiterate, finding this item in Subnautica 2 is easier than most might expect. The challenge lies in recognizing the environment. Once you recognize this visual cue, spotting them becomes far more manageable during your underwater exploration.

The best part is that you do not need any harvesting tools, such as the Survival Multitool, to collect Lucifer Rotsac. Simply swim close to the glowing coral and click the left mouse button (LT on Xbox or L2 on PS5) to pick it up.

Best Early Game Lucifer Rotsac Locations in Subnautica 2

Currently, Subnautica 2 early access has been released; however, you’re free to explore the various biomes in the game. You don’t need to go very far away since the item is found underwater and close to the starter regions. If you head a few meters to the east of the Lifepod where you spawn, you will spot the Cradle Shootroot corals with the item at a depth of 15-30 meters.

According to our testing, we have found this item in the coral-heavy regions with dense orange flora, particularly in the Shallows Subnautica 2 biome. These areas often feature clusters of star-shaped coral formations. Furthermore, during the day, the Lucifer Rotsac stands out because of its vivid orange color, which is in contrast to the cool oceanic blue environment.

One of the smartest strategies is to explore areas slightly away from your starting pod and not dive deep enough that it will punish your oxygen levels. However, if you have found Silver in Subnautica 2 and have already crafted the torch, underwater exploration during the night becomes far more rewarding while finding these small balls due to their orange glow.

Lucifer Rotsac Uses in Subnautica 2

Once you have collected enough Lucifer Rotsac (around 10 to 20), you can go back to your Lifepod for crafting rubber and grease with it. So, here are the methods for crafting both items in some simple steps.
