But if you’re struggling to get through it, here’s how to complete the GTA 5 Online tutorial.
Steps to Complete the GTA Online tutorial
The GTA Online tutorial kicks off the moment you load into the game. It’s a pretty straightforward series of missions, so just follow the steps below:
1. Create Your Custom Character
The first thing you’ll need to do is create a custom character. The game will offer up multiple presets to pick from, but you can freely modify these to your heart’s content. The customisation options available include facial features, eye color, skin tones, and even parental heritage.
Once you’re done with the facial appearance, it’s time to pick your character’s style and outfit. After nailing the perfect look, just select the Save and Continue option to move forward.
2. Meet Lamar
The next step involves sitting through a couple of unskippable cutscenes, one of which sees Lamar Davis pick your character up from the airport. He then gives you a brief rundown about Los Santos, including two job sources for the future. Once the cutscene is wrapped up, just move towards the large blue circle right in front of you to progress the tutorial.
3. Complete the Racing Tutorial
After stepping into the circle, you’ll be participating in an impromptu race. To help you get started, GTA Online will offer a nice selection of vehicles to pick from. The car you pick will become your first owned vehicle, so choose wisely. The ones we recommend include: the Vapid Dominator, Bravado Gauntlet, or the Karin Sultan.
Now, it’s time to race, which is all about following the blue markers that’ll appear right in front of you. The race itself is extremely easy, and you’re more than likely to finish in pole position.
4. Complete the Combat Tutorial
After the race ends, another cutscene will kick off. On this occasion, Lamar asks you to head to a drug exchange between two street gangs and grab the merchandise. Can You Skip the GTA Online Tutorial?
While we would strongly recommend against skipping the GTA Online tutorial, you can actually skip some parts of it. However, the methods to do so remain limited. As of now, the only two ways to skip the GTA Online tutorial are:
- Create a second character: Once you’re done making your primary character, access the GTA Online menu through the game’s settings and choose a new save slot. This will cause your second character to skip the tutorial.
- Intentionally fail thrice: If you really want to skip the tutorial, then simply fail it thrice. GTA 5 will kick you into the Online world, thereby having skipped it.
