- Pawn Inclinations dictate how a pawn behaves and speaks in Dragon's Dogma 2. The inclination can be changed using a special item called Rift Incense.
- Rift Incense are sold by Rift Merchants can be purchased using Rift Crystals. They are quite expensive, especially for new players.
- After purchasing Rift Incenses, give them to the Pawn while resting at a camp and end the day to change the Pawn's inclination.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 features the unique Pawn system, which are AI-controlled companions who fight alongside the main player and give hints on quests, enemies, and secrets. Every Pawn in Dragon’s Dogma 2 has an inclination that can be set while creating them at the start of the game. The Pawn Inclination is a set of behavioral traits for the Pawns and also sets their role in battle. There is only one way to change your Pawn’s inclination in Dragon’s Dogma 2, and here is how you can do it.
First, you need to head to Vernworth, which is the capital city of Vermund. The main quest takes you there early in the game, so finding it should not be an issue. Next, you need to find the Rift Merchant located next to the Vernworth Grand Rift Stone. Talk to the Rift Merchant and here you will find many items that can be purchased with Rift Crystals.
Among the items, there are five Rift Incenses, which are used for changing Pawn inclinations in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
- Ambivalent Rift Incense: Randomly changes the Pawns inclination (500 RC).
- Kindhearted Rift Incense: Changes the Pawn’s inclination to Kindhearted (2000 RC).
- Calm Rift Incense: Changes the Pawn’s inclination to Calm (2000 RC).
- Simple Rift Incense: Changes the Pawn’s inclination to Simple (2000 RC).
- Straightforward Rift Incense: Changes the Pawn’s inclination to Straightforward (2000 RC).
The Rift Incenses can be purchased with Rift Crystals (RC). All of them are quite expensive so you will need to farm for some time to get all the Rift Crystals. Purchase the Rift Incense you want to use and head outside the city.
Once you are outside, look for a campsite. This is important, as you can only use the Rift Incense while resting at a campsite. After you have reached the campsite, set it up. Once done, go and talk to your pawn. Here you will find the option to give them the Rift Incense. Spend the night in the Camp and your Pawn will have a new inclination.
