After teasing the Honor 10 over the past couple of weeks, Huawei’s sub-brand has finally taken the wraps off their smartphone on stage at its global launch event in London. The Honor 10 has been priced at Rs 32,999 and will be sold exclusively on Flipkart in India. The pre-orders begin tonight at 12:00 midnight.

Design and Specs

While the cameras are certainly the highlight of this phone, another premium element is the Huawei P20 Pro-like design. Called the Aurora Glass design, the device reflects vivid colors from every direction and shows you two different colors. This has been made possible due to an industry-first color radiance coating technology.

The Honor 10 will be sold in four variants namely Phantom Blue, Phantom Green, Phantom Gray and Midnight Black, which look quite fetching.

Coming to the specs sheet, the Honor 10 features a 5.84-inch FullView display with the trendy notch up-top. It is powered by Huawei’s in-house Kirin 970 processor, coupled with two RAM and storage options. You get 4GB of RAM and 64GB/ 128GB of internal storage.

Interestingly, the phone has an under-glass ‘ultrasonic’ fingerprint scanner that has been merged into the bottom bezel. Well, the company may have gone a little overboard calling it ultrasonic, but it did demo the scanner working with wet fingers. The phone features a 3.5mm audio jack.

Cameras

In the optics department, the Honor 10 brings along a dual rear camera setup with a primary 24-MP monochrome sensor and a secondary 16-MP RGB sensor. Both the cameras feature an f/1.8 aperture, which is coupled with a dual-core phase detection auto-focus (PDAF).

This is topped off by the on-device AI features, which can recognize more than 500 scenes in 22 categories to capture better pictures. These features will help you click portrait shots and also 3D portrait shots as well, which includes studio lighting effects which seem to have been cloned from the iPhone.

The Honor 10 sports an “enhanced-ISO” 24-MP front camera, which has been paired with 4-in-1 light fusion and multi-frame image processing. This means you will never miss that perfect selfie moment because of the powerful AI-backed camera.

Software and Battery

The Honor 10 is packing a decent 3,400mAh battery that should last you the whole day on a single charge. However, if the device does die out during the day then Huawei’s SuperCharging technology can juice up the half of the phone’s battery in just under 25 minutes.

Backed by Android 8.1 Oreo with its own EMUI 8.1 skin on top, the Honor 10 brings many features including lockscreen games that will allow you to have some fun without the need to unlock your device. And how can one forget the infamous face unlock that has also found its way to this device.

Honor is only bringing the higher-end 6GB and 128GB configuration to India, which has been priced at Rs 32,999. It has been priced quite competitively and would be taking on the OnePlus 6 that will go on sale next week. So, what are your thoughts on the Honor 10? Will you be buying it tonight?
