Firefly Best Build: Kit and Best Rotation

Firefly features a strong DPS kit, filled with Break Effect and Super Break Effect damage buffs. Let’s take a closer look at her kit and how to play her properly.

  • Order: Flare Propulsion (Basic Attack): Deals Fire Damage equal to 100% of Firefly’s Attack to a single target.
  • Firefly Type-IV: Pyrogenic Decimation (Enhanced basic Attack): Restores HP equal to 20% of her Max HP and deals Fire Damage to a single target equal to 200% of her Attack.
  • Order: Aerial Bombardment (Skill): Consumes HP equal to 40% of Firefly’s Max HP and regenerates a fixed amount of energy equal to 60% of her total energy. Deals Fire damage to a single enemy equal to 200% of her Attack. Firefly’s next action is action forwarded by 25%.
  • Firefly Type-IV: Deathstar Overload (Enhanced Skill): Restores HP equal to 25% of her Max HP and applies Fire Weakness to a single enemy for 2 turns. Deals Blast Fire Damage equal to 0.2 x Break Effect + 200% of Firefly’s Attack to the target enemy, and 0.1 x Break Effect + 100% of Firefly’s Attack to adjacent targets. The Break Effect added in the calculation is capped at 360%.
  • Firefly Type-IV: Complete Combustion (Ultimate): Enters Complete Combustion state, which 100% advances her action and summons a Countdown Timer on the action bar. The Complete Combustion state changes her Basic Attack and Skill to their Enhanced version. In the Complete Combustion state, Firefly’s speed increases by 60, and when she uses the Enhanced Basic Attack or Skill, it increases her Weakness Break Efficiency by 50%, increases the break damage received by enemy targets by 20%, lasting until the current attack ends. The Complete Combustion state of Firefly ends when Cooldown Timer starts in the Action order, which has a fixed speed of 70.

  • Chrysalid Pyronexus (Talent): Reduces damage taken by Firefly the lower her HP is. When her HP is 20% or lower, the damage reduction reaches the maximum level, reducing up to a maximum of 40%. While in the Complete Combustion state, her damage reduction remains at the maximum effect, and her effect resistance increases by 30%. If her energy is lower than 50% at the start of the battle, it regenerates energy to 50%. Once her Energy is regenerated to its maximum, dispels all debuffs on SAM.
  • Order: Meteoric Incineration (Technique): She leaps into the air and moves without restrictions for 5 seconds. While in the Air, she can plunge attack at a set area. If the duration ends before plunge attacking, she descends and immediately attacks all enemies within a set area. After the battle starts, she applies Fire Weakness to all enemies without one for 2 turns, and then deals Fire damage equal to 200% of Firefly’s attack to all enemies.

Firefly’s kit suggests very strong DPS and solo-sustaining abilities for her Best Build. She can constantly heal herself and deal high amounts of damage to enemies. Her kit also allows her to take multiple turns by buffing her speed and forwarding her action. Firefly is looking to be a very strong DPS character.

Most of Firefly’s kit is based on her Complete Combustion state from her Ultimate ability. She can easily recharge her Ultimate using her Skill and Ultimate, while also increasing her Speed and forward her action. After entering the Complete Combustion state, she can deal the most damage using her enhanced Skill.

This is how Firefly’s ideal rotation should be:

  • Skill > Ultimate > Skill > Skill > Exit Ultimate > Repeat

The 4-piece Iron Cavalry Against the Scourge is the best relic set for Firefly. This relic set will be released on version 2.3, and it is a very strong Break Effect DPS relic set. It increases the wearer’s Break Effect by 16% and allows the wearer to ignore enemy defenses when the wearer meets the Break Effect threshold.

The 4-piece Genius of Brilliant Stars is the best alternative if you have good stats on them. This set will allow Firefly to ignore 10% of enemy defenses to all enemies and ignore 10% more against Quantum weakness enemies.

Firefly Main and Sub Stats for her Relics and Planar Ornaments

When it comes to Firefly’s main and sub-stats, her damage scales more on Attack than Break Effect. Use an Attack % body, Speed boots, Attack % Sphere, and Break Effect Rope to get the best out of her kit. Try to reach 150 Speed with her sub-stats to get 210 speed after using her Ultimate, and reach 360% Break Effect%. Other than that, simply stack as much Attack% as possible.

  • Whereabouts Should Dreams Rest
  • On the Fall of an Aeon
  • Nowhere to Run
  • Flames Afar
  • Indelible Promise

Firefly has some really good Light Cone options. Her signature Light Cone ‘Whereabouts Should Dreams Rest’ is her best Light Cone, giving her a massive 60% increase in Break Effect. Furthermore, it deals 24% increased Break Damage to enemies and lowers the speed of enemies by 20%.

On the Fall of an Aeon is Firefly’s best free-to-play Light Cone and her best alternative. It can be easily superimposed to 5 and can give a massive Attack % buff to the wearer. Other than that, Nowhere to Run, Flames Afar, and Indelible Promise are also good options.

Honkai Star Rail Firefly Eidolons

Now that you have taken a look at Firefly’s kit, let’s take a closer look at her Eidolons as well.

  • In Reddened Chrysalis, I Once Rest (E1): When using her Enhanced Skill, she ignores 15% of the target’s Defense and the Enhanced Skill doesn’t consume Skill points.
  • From Shattered Sky, I Free Fall (E2): When using the Enhanced Basic ATK or the Enhanced Skill in Complete Combustion state to defeat an enemy target or cause them to be Weakness Broken, Firefly immediately gains 1 extra turn. This effect can trigger again after 1 turn.
  • Amidst Silenced Stars, I Deep Sleep (E3): Skill Level + 2, up to Level 15 max, Basic Attack Level + 1, up to Level 10 max.
  • Upon Lighted Firefly, I Soon Gaze (E4): Firefly’s effect resistance increases by 50% in Complete Combustion state.
  • From Undreamt Night, I Thence Shine (E5): Ultimate Level + 2, up to Level 15 max, Talent Level + 2, up to Level 15 max.
  • In Finalized Morrow, I Full Bloom (E6): Increases Fire Resistance penetration of Firefly by 20% during Complete Combustion. When using the Enhanced Basic ATK or Enhanced Skill, increases the Weakness Break efficiency by 50%.

Firefly’s Eidolons are extremely strong. Her E1 allows her Enhanced Skill to ignore 15% of the defense, which is extremely strong. Furthermore, her E2 is simply broken as it gives her an extra turn when she uses her Enhanced Basic Attack or Skill to defeat or weakness-break an enemy during the Complete Combustion state. Pair her E2 with the insane Speed her build will have, and you can likely see how broken it can be.

HSR Firefly Traces and Ascension Abilities

Ascension Abilities:

  • Module α: Antilag Outburst (Ascension 2): While in Complete Combustion state, attacking enemies without Fire Weakness also reduces their Toughness by 55% of the original Toughness reduction amount.
  • Module β: Autoreactive Armor (Ascension 4): If Firefly’s Break Effect is equal to 200%/360% or higher when she is in Complete Combustion state, attacking a Weakness-Broken enemy target will convert the Toughness Reduction of this attack into 1 instance of 35%/50% Super Break DMG.
  • Module γ: Core Overload (Ascension 6): For every 10 of SAM’s ATK that exceeds 1800, increases SAM’s Break Effect by 0.8%.

  • Speed Boost: 5
