Introduced with Android Lollipop a few years ago, Material Design has become Google primary UI design language across apps and services over the years. Now, 9to5Google says that the design philosophy is also being incorporated into Google Play Services, which would bring a revamped ‘My Account’ setting panel, among other possibly more stark changes.
According to the blog, the latest beta version (12.6.65) of Google Play services brings forth a completely redesigned ‘My Account’ section that will have an entirely revamped interface with a bottom bar that features new icons and tabs.
As can be seen from the images, the four tabs at the bottom will be ‘Account’, ‘Search’, ‘Support’ and ‘Menu’.
Some of the styling differs significantly from the existing material design language, including the use of bold Product Sans font on white background.
One of the other notable changes is the overlay that pops up when that last ‘Menu’ icon is tapped on. As can be seen in the image below, selected items on that overlay will have a rounded, light blue highlight with rounded corners.
There are a few other tweaks and changes as well, but it’s worth noting here that not all of these functionalities are guaranteed to be rolled out to the app, seeing as many of features referenced in APKs don’t often see the light of the day for months, if at all.
