Genshin Impact: Razor Constellations Guide

In Short
  • Razor is a 4-star Electro DPS character and he wields a Claymore as weapon.
  • His Constellation 1 and Constellation 4 increases his damage output by a lot, making them essential for his build.
  • Razor is a decent DPS unit, and his kit becomes a lot powerful after investing in his Constellations.

Razor is one of the oldest characters in Genshin Impact, and his character design has always kept him popular in the community. Although he is only an average DPS character, his kit is quite fun to play with in Genshin Impact. Sadly, a large part of his damage output is hidden behind his Constellations, which can also be hard for new players to understand. Here is a complete guide on Razor’s constellations in Genshin Impact, and which ones you should prioritize for his build.

Constellation 1: Wolf’s Instinct

  • Impact: High

“Picking up an Elemental Orb or Particle increases Razor’s DMG by 10% for 8 seconds.”

This constellation is very strong for Razor as his Elemental Skill — Claw and Thunder, lets Razor gain an Electro Sigil after hitting an opponent with it, which also increases his energy regeneration rate. His constellation 1 allows him to get 10% damage boost for every Electro Sigil, so a 30% damage increase at all times as Razor can only hold 3 sigils at a time.

Constellation 2: Suppression

  • Impact: Low

“Increases Crit Rate against opponents with less than 30% HP by 10%.”

This constellation may sound good, but it isn’t that effective in actual gameplay. It only activates against enemies with less than 30% HP, which basically means that they are already dead. This constellation has more use against bosses with a larger health pool, as 30% of their HP can still be a good deal. However, even then the Crit Rate increase is so small that it’s not going to have much impact in the fight.

Constellation 3: Soul Companion

  • Impact: Medium

“Increases the Level of Lightning Fang by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15.”

This constellation simply increases the level of Razor’s Elemental Burst, making him deal significantly more damage while using it. Razor’s ultimate also increases his Attack damage by adding his soul companion’s attack to it, and his Attack Speed. So getting three more levels in Razor’s Elemental Burst will only deal a lot more damage.

Constellation 4: Bite

  • Impact: High

“When casting Claw and Thunder (Press), opponents hit will have their Defense decreased by 15% for 7 seconds.”

This constellation further boosts the damage from Razor’s skill, as it lowers the enemy defenses by 15%, which is a decent chunk, when hitting them with the Claw and Thunder elemental Skill. Adding the buff of his C1 on top allows Razor to deal a ton of more damage to his enemies.

Constellation 5: Sharpened Claws

  • Impact: Medium

“Increases the Level of Claw and Thunder by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15.”

Claw and Thunder is a big chunk of Razor damage output, and this constellation adds 3 levels to it. This increases his Electro Damage output from his skill by quite a lot, especially with the C1 damage buff, and the C4 Defense Reduction debuff applied on enemies.

Constellation 6: Lupus Fulguris

  • Impact: Low

“Every 10 seconds, Razor’s sword charges up, causing the next Normal Attack to release lightning that deals 100% of Razor’s ATK as Electro Damage. When Razor is not using Lightning Fang, a lightning strike on an opponent will grant Razor an Electro Sigil for Claw and Thunder.”

This constellation lets Razor’s Normal attack deal lightning damage equal to a portion of Razor’s Attack as Electro damage every 10 seconds, which is not very useful. The Lightning strike also grants Razor an Electro Sigil when he is not using Lightning Fang, which makes it easier to get all the 3 stacks up all the time. However, this constellation doesn’t make that big of a difference to Razor’s kit, especially for a C6.

Are Razor’s Constellations Worth Pulling

Razor is a decent 4-star Electro DPS, and his kit requires him to stay on-field most of the time. He can be a good character for new players or early in the game, but to get the best out of him, you do need his constellations. Out of all the Razor Constellations, his C1 and C4 maximize his damage output.

So, if you are a Razor main and want to build him in the best way, you need to get his Constellation 4. However, he is not that strong and I won’t recommend you going out of the way to pull for his constellations. It’s better to focus on the upcoming Natlan characters in Genshin Impact with the 5.0 version releasing very soon.
