After launching the Forerunner 945, 245 and 245 Music smartwatches in India earlier this year, US-based smart wearables vendor, Garmin, has now brought one of the two cheapest models in the lineup, the Forerunner 45, to the country. The four devices, along the Forerunner 45S, were launched together back in May as part of the company’s refreshed Forerunner lineup. The one that’s being launched in India is the standard 45, which comes with a 42mm case, while the ‘S’ model comes in a smaller, 39mm form factor.
Launched as an upgrade to the Forerunner 35, the new budget-friendly offering from Garmin offers several premium features, such as GPS, optical heart rate monitor, step counter, calories burnt, adaptive training plans, VO2 max, activity and sleep tracking, Body Battery energy monitoring, stress tracking, music controls, smart notifications, live tracking and incident detection. The device also comes with multiple sports profiles, like running, cycling, indoor track, treadmill, elliptical, cardio, yoga and more.
In terms of hardware, the watch features a 1.04-inch, 208 x 208 color transflective memory-in-pixel (MIP) display. The lens material is said to be ‘chemically strengthened glass’, while the strap is made out of silicone. The device is waterproof up to 50 meters (5 ATM), so can be used in a swimming pool, although it doesn’t have any swimming features. The watch is compatible with both iPhones and Androids, while sensors include GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and accelerometer.
The Forerunner 45 is being offered in Black and Lava Red color options in India, and has been priced at Rs. 19,990. It is already available for purchase on a number of online platforms, such as Amazon, Tata Cliq, Myntra and Paytmmall. It will also be available at select premium watch retailers and electronics outlets in several major cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune and more.
