- She agreed to be a part of Fallout simply because the script and worldbuilding felt more comical and interesting to her.
- Ella also revealed that in this season, there's a chance that Lucy's golden rule might start to fade away.
One of the things that makes Fallout work phenomenally well is the performances put forward by the cast, and the shining star among them is the protagonist, Lucy, played by Ella Purnell, who will return to lead in Fallout Season 2. Now, the thing to note here is that it has previously been reinforced that Ella Purnell is not exactly a fan of gore and horror, which brings us to the question: What drew her to be the protagonist of a show that is incomplete without the said element? Well, Beebom finally has the answer for you from Ella Purnell herself, so without further ado, let’s take a look at what drew her to be a part of Fallout.
Ella Purnell Was Drawn to the Comic Aspect and World Building of Fallout
Beebom’s Entertainment Editor, Anmol Sachdeva, had the opportunity to interview the cast of Fallout Season 2. There, he asked Ella Purnell about the contrast between her apparent personal opinion on gore and being the lead in a show like Fallout.
To this, Ella replied by clarifying that the notion of her not liking horror and gore is not exactly true. She just does not watcha lot of it and prefers to watch comedies almost exclusively. When she read the script to Fallout, it sounded more comical to her, and she absolutely loved the world-building in place, which became the reason for her to be drawn to the show. In her comment, Ella told Beebom-
“A lot of people have said to me, ‘You don’t like horror and gore,’ and it’s not that. It’s not the case. I I just don’t watch a lot of it. You know, I watch just pretty much exclusively comedies or anything Kyle’s in. When I was reading the scripts at the beginning of season one, episode one, it just was it made me laugh. It was funny. And I I loved the world that had been built from these games and just these incredible characters and creatures and the aesthetic and the tone of balancing that drama and comedy. It really it made me laugh out loud when I was reading through it and I I loved the character as well.”
So, now that we know why Ella took up the job to bring one of the most loved games of our time to life, let’s draw our attention towards her character, Lucy.
Ella Purnell Reveals That Lucy Might Let Go of Her Golden Rule in Fallout Season 2
Now, it would be an understatement to say that Lucy has gone through a lot since she ventured into the wasteland, and surviving in such a cruel world changed the best of us. So, reflecting upon that very theory, Anmol went ahead and asked Ella if we would see certain changes in the character of Lucy in a similar way we did in Season 1 as a result of the Ghoul’s influence.
To this, Ella was rather cryptic but did reveal something rather unexpected. She stated that Fallout Season 2 starts not too long after Season 1’s conclusion, and now Lucy is a bit fed up with the Ghouls’ shenanigans. Following this, Ella reveals that after witnessing everything she has and everything that will go down this season, it would become hard for her to hold on to her golden rule. In her statement, she says-
“Season two picks up not far where we left off season one, but it’s been enough time for her to get a little bit fed up with the ghoul. Uh, by the time we meet them, uh, season two they’re they’re on this sort of road trip through the desert, uh, looking for Hank, Lucy’s father. Uh, and she, you know, she does what people would do after tragedy strikes and she just keeps on keeping on the way she always has and she’s trying to keep hold of her golden rule mentality and appeal to people’s better nature. Um, but you’ll see as the season progresses that it just is impossible to maintain.”
So, does that mean we are going to witness Lucy’s golden rule, “Treat others how you want to be treated,” fade away in Fallout Season 2? Only time can tell us that. However, looking at Ella’s answer, it appears that we might actually see Lucy crack and resort to gunpowder instead of conversations by the time Fallout Season 2 concludes. So, let’s wait and see what Amazon Prime has in store for us, and as we have more intel, we’ll be right back.
