After the raging success of Dune and Dune Part 2, people including myself, have eagerly waited for the release of Dune 3 or Dune: Messiah. However, even though we know that this movie will come out there are no updates as of now. So, to ensure that the hype for Dune does not die down, a new series called Dune: Prophecy, set 10,000 years before the birth of Paul Atriedes is now live on Max. So without further ado, let’s take a look at the cast members and their characters appearing in Dune Prophecy.
1. Emily Watson as Valya Harkonnen
Dune Prophecy showcases a stellar cast and one among them is Emily Watson. She takes up the role of Mother Superior Valya Harkonnen. She is the second Reverand Mother Superior of the Bene Gesserit Order. She is ruthless and wishes to put a sister on the Imperium’s throne. Valya is willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen. In the very first episode itself, Valya uses The Voice on Dorotea and makes her stab herself to death when she becomes a threat to Valya’s ambitions.
2. Olivia Williams as Tula Harkonnen
Olivia Williams appears in Dune: Prophecy as the sister of Mother Superior Valya Harkonnen and one of the earliest members of the Bene Gesserit Order. She is extremely loyal to her sister and is willing to carry out the worst of orders in the interest of the Sisterhood. Not much about her character has been revealed as of now but based on what we saw in the first episode, we can assume it will be pretty intense.
3. Jodhi May as Empress Natalya
Jodhi May appears as Empress Natalya the wife of Emperor Javicco Corrino. It seems that she is the only one who sees that the Bene Gesserit is trying to gain control over everything but her hunches are taken lightly. Initially, Indira Verma was supposed to play this character but she backed out and now Jodhi May has replaced her.
4. Sarah-Sofie Boussnina as Princess Ynez
Princess Ynez played by Sarah-Sofie Boussnina in Dune: Prophecy is an independent royal who is burdened with expectations and has a lot of pressure on her since she is the heir to the Golden Lion Throne. We see that on the advice of the Bene Gesserit her father, Emperor Javicco Corrino had agreed to marry her off to the 9-year-old son of Duke Ferdinand Richese, Pruwet Richese.
The marriage has been orchestrated with the sole purpose of creating an alliance between both houses which in turn, will benefit the hidden agenda of the Sisterhood.
5. Shalom Brune-Franklin as Mikaela
For Dune: Prophecy, Shalom Brune-Franklin has joined the cast as Mikaela. She is seen as one of the people in the royal family. She is described as someone with a strong will and her ultimate goal in life is to return to her home planet, even though she has never been there and does not remember anything about it. She did not have a lot of screen time in the first episode but will certainly appear more as the show proceeds.
6. Aoife Hinds as Sister Emeline
Aoife Hinds appears in the role of Sister Emeline. She is one of the acolytes who comes from a long line of martyrs and is strongly devoted to her duty. As of now, she appears in the series as a minor character but nothing can be said regarding her role in the upcoming episodes of Dune: Prophecy.
7. Faoileann Cunningham as Sister Jen
Another acolyte at the Sisterhood school is Sister Jen played by Faoileann Cunningham. She is described to be easily angered and unpredictable and because of her emotional instability, she does not create any kind of emotional bonds with anyone. Just like Sister Emeline, she did not appear for too long in the 1-hour-long episode but she is being eyed to be paired with Princess Ynez when she joins the sisterhood.
8. Travis Fimmel as Desmond Hart
One of the big names joining the cast of Dune Prophecy is Travis Fimmel. Famous for his role as Ragnar Lothbrok in Vikings, he takes on the role of Desmond Hart, a soldier who is the sole survivor of an attack that happened on Arrakis and wishes to be favored by the empire. To ensure that he receives it, we will see him standing against The Sisterhood which is somewhat evident in what he does by the end of the first episode.
9. Chloe Lea as Lila
Chloe Lea appears in Dune: Prophecy as Lila, the youngest acolyte at the School of Sisterhood. Even though very young, her character is described to be very mature and holds a lot of compassion as compared to what you would expect to see from someone of her age.
10. Mark Strong as Emperor Javicco Corrino
One of the main characters of Dune: Prophecy, Emperor Javicco Corrino is played by Mark Strong. He is seen trying his best to maintain peace during his reign after a long line of his lineage has been more war-oriented. However, House Harkonnen is actively attempting to manipulate and take control of Emperor Javicco Corrino in the series.
11. Jade Anouka as Sister Theodosia
Jade Anouka is once again, a minor character named Sister Theodosia, another acolyte at the School of Sisterhood. She is described to be very ambitious however, there is a secret about her that is to be revealed in time as the series progresses.
12. Chris Mason as Keiran Atreides
Chris Mason will appear in the cast of Dune Prophecy as Keiran Atreides, one of the ancestors of Paul Atreides who is trying to live up to his legendary house name. He is also somewhat dating Princess Ynez and doesn’t stop doing so even after she gets engaged to the young prince. Not much is revealed regarding what will happen to him but for that, we will have to wait till the next episode is released.
