Dragon’s Dogma 2 is filled with different weapons and armor pieces for each vocation. Upgrading weapons and armor is very important in Dragon’s Dogma 2, much more than in other games, otherwise your character would be doing barely any damage to the enemy while getting one-shot by enemies. Equipment in Dragon’s Dogma 2 can be easily upgraded from Smith or Armorer NPCs. However, there is a fourth hidden equipment upgrade, called Dragonforged, which drastically improves every piece of equipment. Here is how you can Dragonforge your weapons and armor in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
What is Dragonforging in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Dragonforging is a carryover feature from the first Dragon’s Dogma game and it is the max tier of equipment upgrade currently possible in Dragon’s Dogma 2. By dragonforging weapons and armor, the damage and defensive stats are increased and it also halves the weight cost of the equipment.
Dragonforging may be carried over from the previous game, however, it is completely different in Dragon’s Dogma 2. In Dragon’s Dogma 2, there is an NPC named Dragonforged, who strengthens the equipment in the Wyrmsfire for Arisen using the Wyrmlife Crystals.
The Dragonforged NPCs were also present in the first game, but they only had story significance.
How to Dragonforge Weapons and Armor in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Dragonforging weapons in the first Dragon’s Dogma was based on RNG from defeating Draconian Enemies (Drake, Wyrm, Wyvern, or Dragons). Every piece of equipment equipped by the Arisen had a base chance of getting Dragonforged after defeating a Draconian enemy, with increased chances for upgraded equipment.
In Dragon’s Dogma 2, Dragonforging is very different and is not as RNG-based as before. To Dragonforge equipment in DD2, players simply need to find the Dragonforged and enhance the equipment in the Wyrmfire using the Wyrmlife Crystals.
Dragonforged Location in Dragon’s Dogma 2
The Dragonforged in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is located at the Bay Wayside Shrine, north of Bakbattahl city, in Battahl. If you still haven’t finished the Flickering Shadows quest, then set it to priority and it will take you to talk to Ambrosius which is very close to Dragonforged.
Otherwise, you can take the north road in Bakbattahl to reach the Olta’Battahl Coastline. Simply continue down the path and head inside the cave. Go left after entering the cave and you will reach the Bay Wayside Shrine, where you will find the Dragonforged.

How to Get Wyrmlife Crystals in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Wyrmlife Crystals are extremely important in Dragon’s Dogma 2, although they don’t appear to be at the start of the game. This item is required for Dragonforge equipment and can also be traded for a Portcrystal and an unmaking arrow from the Dragonforged. There are two ways to get them:
Get Wyrmlife Crystals (WLC) by Defeating Draconian Enemies
The easiest way to farm WLC is by defeating Drakes in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Continue hitting the heart of the Drake, at the center of their chest, to make them drop Wyrmlife Crystals. The quickest way to farm WLC from drakes is using the Bump and Lift core skill alongside the Pilfer or Plunder skill in the Thief Vocation. Simply use the Plunder skill to hit the Drake and steal WLC.
Some of the other bosses also drop WLC on defeat, like the Red Dragon in Dragonsbreath Tower and Dragon in the Moonglint Tower.
Find or Purchase Wyrmlife Crystals in the Open World
Wyrmlife Crystals can be found while exploring in the open world. Although they are very rare, Pawns with the Forager specialization can mark them on the map, among the other materials. Five WLC can be found next to the Dragonforged, so make sure to pick them up when you visit him.
Also, you can purchase WLC from Ore merchants. Ganora is one Ore merchant who sells 3 WLC and can be found walking on the Melve to Vernworth road.
Ganora also sells other useful items like Gold, Fuligin, and Dappled ores. The items are a bit pricey, but you should have enough if you have reached the Dragonforged part of the story.
