Does Leon Die in Resident Evil 9?
Yes, Leon does die in Resident Evil Requiem, but that is not the end of his story. Resident Evil 9 has multiple endings, and in one of the endings, Leon dies at the end of the game…something that none of us want to see. So how does Leon die? Leon was infected with the Raccoon City Syndrome, which eventually reached the final stage. Knowing that he won’t survive, Leon sacrifices himself to keep Grace safe from the new Albert Wesker in RE9. Although there is no Ada Wong in Resident Evil Requiem to save Leon, there is still a way to keep him from dying.
How to Save Leon in Resident Evil Requiem
Leon’s death in Resident Evil Requiem is not set in stone. Otherwise, the community would be rioting right now, and I would be a happy part of it myself. Thankfully, Leon’s infection can be cured in Resident Evil Requiem, which saves him in the other ending and even revitalizes Leon for the final boss.
As you progress through the story, you will learn that Elpis is also an antivirus and can be used to cure all the bioweapons created by Umbrella. When given the choice to destroy it or use it, pick the choice of using it on Leon. Doing so would save Leon and cure his Raccoon City syndrome infection.
Is Leon’s Death Canon in Resident Evil 9?
No, Leon’s death is not canon in Resident Evil Requiem. Saving Leon and defeating Victor Gideon is the canon ending that will continue the storyline. Capcom makes this clear as you get an option to reload the game from the last major save point after getting the bad ending, allowing players to get the canon ending right then and there. However, the game doesn’t show this option if you get the good ending first, indicating that it is the canon sequence of events.
