In Short

  • Marie used her powers to heal and bring back her sister Annabeth from the dead.
  • If she is now strong enough to make blood do that, she can easily overpower Homelander using them.

Marie has been the central player of Gen V since the first season, and initially, her powers might have felt a bit odd to a few people. However, as the show started piercing its roots in the world of The Boys, her powers started to grow stronger and stronger. Now with Dean Cipher and his atrocities in the picture, her powers are growing at an exponential rate. In Episode 5 of Gen V Season 2, a series of events might just have hinted that Marie has grown stronger than Homelander, and I’m here to talk all about it.

In episode 5 of Gen V Season 2, we see that Cate has been sent to Elmira by Dean Cipher for an attempt at spying on him. When Emma, Jordan, and Marie find out about this, they hatch a plan to go rescue her, but it turns out to be a trap, and the three of them are captured as well. This is when Dean Cipher reveals to Marie that he has her sister, Annabeth, in captivity, and he would let them both walk free if Marie agrees to continue training under him, to which Marie declines.

On the other hand, Cate manages to take down a guard and take his keys. She goes on to free everyone else to escape from the facility. As she frees Marie, she runs off to save Annabeth, and as she enters her cell, Annabeth is on the floor with a slit throat, bled out, dead.

This is when Marie closes her eyes and starts using her powers to such an extent that everyone else starts bleeding from their nose, and then, we see Anabeth’s wound healing, and in an instant, she comes back to life.

How Does This Make Marie a Danger to Homelander?

We all know that since the very beginning, Gen V Season 2 has been telling us that Marie is the strongest supe ever. However, they never gave us anything to back it up. Now, if you saw what Marie did in Episode 5 and don’t understand how she can be stronger than Homelander, trust me when I say it, you don’t understand the gravity of what she pulled.

Marie brought someone back to life, which means that her control over blood is not just limited to controlling it; she can manipulate it as well, multiply it, essentially, she can not just weaponize it, but turn it into life force.

Now, if she can turn it into life force, she can also turn it into poison, make it a threat to the body it’s flowing in. Since Homelander is indestructible, and Victoria is dead, Marie is the only one left who can kill Homelander, and since her powers are now stronger than they have ever been, she can go toe to toe with him and even take him down. So, while Homelander is armed with Superman-like powers flowing in his blood, Marie can turn that very blood against him, which makes her stronger than Homelander and any other supe.
