Asus has confirmed that its upcoming ROG Phone 2 will be unveiled July 23 in China. In a post on Chinese micro-blogging site, Weibo, on Thursday, the company said that the device will be announced alongside the X570 motherboard series and the 30th anniversary PRIME X299 Edition 30 motherboard. There’s no word, however, on when it will be launched in India or other global markets.

The ROG phone 2 will be the follow-up to the company’s first-gen gaming-centric phone that was launched last year with much fanfare. The company had earlier confirmed one of its key tech specs – a 120Hz Super AMOLED display that Asus says will provide a super-smooth gaming experience. According to Asus, the screen will allow for a “more refreshing experience” in games that are optimized for screens with super-high refresh rates.

As can be seen in the teaser above, Asus once again highlighted its partnership with China’s Tencent Games to optimize many of the latter’s popular titles for its upcoming device, something the company had announced earlier. As part of their collaboration, a Chinese fighting game called Under the One Man will be the first game to be optimized for the 120Hz screen. Asus also confirmed plans to bring more 120Hz optimized games, but didn’t reveal any of the titles.

There’s no further concrete info on the upcoming phone, but online speculations suggest that it might ship with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, at least 6GB of RAM, and at least 128GB of internal storage space, alongside RGB lighting, 4K 60fps video recording, liquid cooling and more.
