Arcane Season 2 has finally answered a lot of interesting questions that were raised in the previous seasons. The dark side of Hextech, the birth of Warwick, and more; there was a lot to uncover in the second season. However, the biggest mystery that was solved in the latest season was around Viktor. The sweet guy and innovator who wanted to erase suffering from the world ended up becoming the reason for humanity’s ultimate suffering. However, there’s a beauty about Hexcore – it transcends time and space. Using this power, Viktor was able to travel to different timelines, and he ultimately led a foundation for his redemption.
Spoiler Warning: This post includes heavy spoilers for Arcane Season 2, now out on Netflix.
Viktor Pushed Jayce Toward Magic
In the first season, we see Jayce traveling through a storm with his mother. While bracing the storm, he meets a strange hooded figure carrying a staff. This man uses magic to teleport Jayce and his mother to a safe place. Along with that, he also gifts young Jayce a piece of the magical stone.
From the very beginning, we have always wondered who exactly it was who saved Jayce. Well, we finally know that it was Viktor from the future timeline. In this timeline, Viktor got what he wanted, but that didn’t bring peace to the world.
So, Viktor used his powers to travel to different past timelines and prepare Jayce to save the world. Viktor couldn’t exactly face himself in different timelines because there is a limitation to time travel, so he chose Jayce to carry out his mission. Interestingly, Viktor does this in different timelines, and in each one, it’s always Jayce who is able to show the truth to Viktor.
Honestly, several fans already knew that it was Viktor who saved Jayce all those years back. The guy started flaunting a similar hood and staff earlier in the season, but the latest act confirmed this, not leaving this particular subject to speculation.
One more important thing to note is that Viktor first saved young Jayce. Then, we see Viktor saving Jayce from committing suicide in the first season. Jayce returns the favor and saves Viktor from dying after Jinx blows up the Council chamber. Jayce saves Viktor from the dark side of Hextech by showing him the future.
It’s a beautiful parallel where both Arcane characters can’t exist without each other – in a sense, they complete each other. In fact, they are ready to transcend time and space to support each other.
