The Hurricane map condition is a dynamic weather event that brings in high-speed gusts of wind to the battlefield. Unlike the Arc Raiders Frostbite hazard, the Hurricane directly impacts multiple core mechanics with its winds.

The Hurricane’s winds apply physical force on your Raider, which affects your movement speed, jump distance, and the trajectory of your Arc Raiders gadgets and utilities. This forces you to plan your movement according to the direction of the winds. While moving with the Hurricane winds gives you a speed boost, moving against the headwinds will bring your movement to a halt and increasingly drain your stamina.

The Hurricane also kicks up debris, greatly reducing visibility while causing your shields and shield durability to continuously take damage and glitch out. During the Hurricane map condition, you cannot recharge your Shields, which means once you run out, you have to find cover within a close space to recharge them.

As if this wasn’t enough, your sparking shields basically act like a beacon for other Raiders on the map, making you even more vulnerable.

You will need to fundamentally shift your tactics to survive the Hurricane map condition in Arc Raiders. The first thing you need to do when traversing a Hurricane topside is calculate your movement according to the winds. Since the winds will physically push your Raider around, you can use this to your advantage to escape fights or reach a Raider Hatch quicker.

It is also important to remember that the wind direction of the Hurricane does not change throughout the match, which can help you plan your movement throughout the match. Also, never try to travel long-distance against the winds of a Hurricane unless you have no other choice. If you do have to run against the wind, you can try using Adrenaline Shots, which increase your stamina and speed. You can also use these Shots when travelling with the Winds to give yourself an even bigger speed boost.

Since the Hurricane will rapidly deplete your shields anyway, you are better off running a Light or Medium shield. This allows you to have some form of protection while also making sure that you don’t become a constant moving target for enemy Raiders.

You will also need to relearn throwing your ARC Raiders gadgets to account for the Hurricane’s strong winds. You can practice throwing items like the Wolfpack Grenades in windy conditions to understand their adjusted trajectories, especially for each of the homing missiles it spawns. Additionally, smoke and gas grenades will not have much utility during the Hurricane, so make sure to prioritize direct damage items like the Arc Raiders Trigger Nades.

Finally, always prioritize hard cover when caught up in the Hurricane. Since your shields are highly unreliable and visibility is low, hugging buildings, formations, and dense wreckage will be your best form of protection when taking on this natural disaster. You don’t have to worry about extracting if you’re caught in the winds of a Hurricane, as the Raider Hatch is still active.

While all of this might sound like a lot to keep in mind, you can always have a medic on your team to help you out during the Hurricane condition, and Embark has just added the new Arc Raiders Surgeon Deck to fill this exact role.
