Last year was amazing for TV fanatics, as we’ve got amazing shows like Arcane and Dune Prophecy on our screens. However, now it’s time for everyone to look forward to everything that will be released in 2025. Several new TV shows will be released this year, but some great franchises will also return with their new seasons. With that, let’s discuss some of the most anticipated TV shows that’ll come out with subsequent seasons in 2025.

The list of anticipated returning TV shows of 2025 starts with one of the best TV Shows to have ever existed. Severance Season 1 was released in 2022, and it stunned every viewer with its unique plot and smart performances. Everything about the television series was worth appreciating, so no wonder it was renewed for a second season immediately following the pilot season’s finale.

Severance pushes us to think about what would happen if our consciousness could be split into two in real life. Wouldn’t life be easier if we forget our personal lives while at work and vice versa?
Severance Season 2 will kickstart from where the previous season left off. The Showrunner discussed some of the plot details of the upcoming season in an interview. He disclosed that we will get to know about the mysterious family who founded the Lumon Industries, i.e., the Eagans. The family has been a significant part of the TV Show, and finally, Severance Season 2 will allow us to know about their origins and their plans.

Based on the popular RPG, The Last of Us Season 1 was released on January 15, 2023. The television show lived up to the expectations and was heavily praised for being faithful to the source material. I mean, she didn’t make us feel as if she was portraying a fictional character; Ortega’s performance in the series was that smooth.

The first season of Wednesday didn’t fail to make us freak out with its dark tone, and the showrunners promised that the new season would be even darker and full of new mysteries. We will explore Wednesday’s relationship with her mother. The significant characters from the debut season will return, and on Wednesday, Season 2 will also introduce us to several new ones.

Seong Gi-Hun won the cash prize at the finale of the first season, but he returned to the premises of Squid Games in Season 2 to end the deadly games so that no one would have to die moving further. However, the table turns against him when the Front Man enters the game. Now, it would be intriguing to see if Seong Gi-Hun would be able to succeed in his motives or if he would succumb to the Front Man in Squid Game Season 3.

Now, this is one of the most anticipated TV Shows of 2025, especially for anime fans. One Piece is a G.O.A.T anime that has accumulated a huge fanfare since the beginning, i.e., 1997. So, every content around the franchise eventually becomes the most awaited one. Moreover, One Piece’s protagonist, Luffy, is everyone’s favorite, and OPLA has played well there. That’s because the creators of the live-action blessed us with Inaki Godoy’s Luffy, who we feel is the human version of the anime character. Besides him, the live-action gave us all the reasons to invest our time in it, be it the intriguing plot or the incredible performances; OPLA has it all.

One Piece Season 1 ended on Arlong Park Arc, and now the second season will pick events from Loguetown Arc. After that, we will also get to see the events from Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island arcs. One Piece Season 2 will also bring some new villains along with the old ones.

The finale of The Witcher Season 3 saw Yennefer, Geralt, and Ciri getting brutally defeated by Vilgefortz. Besides that, following Tissaia’s death, Yennefer becomes Aretuza’s new leader. Witcher Season 4 will likely see Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer separated from each other. However, they will go beyond their limitations to fight the challenges and reunite with each other. For the unacquainted, the new season will introduce Liam Hemsworth (Chris Hemsworth’s brother) as Geralt.

Before making it to the standalone series, the DC character, Peacemaker appeared in Suicide Squad in 2021. With his hilarious and flawed persona, the character grabbed the attention of global fans. Peacemaker Season 2 will likely see the main character fighting his inner demons. Peacemaker’s father had a big influence on the boy’s life, but our anti-hero made it pretty clear in the first season that he isn’t anything like his father. The second season will probably see the character moving on from the emotional grappling hook of his father.

He is responsible for running his family restaurant business while managing the entire staff. In the third season, Carmy, with the help of his fellow workers, including Sydney, transforms the restaurant into something that he has always dreamt of. Now, in the fourth season, it would be intriguing to see if the talented chef could succeed in his ambitions or if his life will be a mess.

15. Andor Season 2

Andor Season 1 was a prequel series to the 2016 sci-fi film Rogue One, which was itself a prequel to 1977’s Star Wars film. The series was released on Disney Plus in 2022 and received heavy praise from global critics. Some also appreciated it for being the most complex project of the Star Wars franchise. Initially, the much-awaited Andor Season 2 was supposed to be released sometime in 2024, but due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, the production of the television show was delayed.

Andor Season 2 will see four sets of three episodes, each featuring the events that eventually lead to Rogue One. The character will make a bigger name for himself by putting his feet in the political landscape.
