The Hangman is a serial killer who appears in DC comics and is often regarded as one of the most fearsome and ruthless villains in Batman’s huge list of enemies. In the comics, she was freed from prison by her father when a serial killer named the Holiday Killer started to kill members of the Falcone family.

In the comics, it was revealed that the Holiday Killer was none other than Carmine Falcone’s son, Alberto who wanted to have his father’s empire for himself. However, the story is not that simple. After all of this, Sofia was still not able to save her father as he was killed by Two-Face, enraged by this, she tried to kill Two-Face. However, Catwoman came in the way and, as a result of their fight, Sofia fell out of the penthouse window and got paralyzed.

It was later revealed that Sofia faked everything and turned into the serial killer named The Hangman who would kill Gotham PD officials using a noose after her father’s body went missing from the Gotham Police department.

By the end of this story, Sofia tries to kill Two-Face but Batman saves him and as Batman battles Sofia, Two-Face shoots her in the head putting an end to The Hangman in DC comics.

Until episode 3 of The Penguin TV series, we all thought that Sofia Falcone was the Hangman. This also makes sense because she has been seen with that alter-ego in the comic books. However, it is a completely different story in The series.

The Penguin series shows us that Sofia was innocent and figured out that Carmine Falcone was the one responsible for killing those seven women and Sofia’s mother, which makes Carmine Falcone the Hangman in The Penguin.

However, to make sure Sofia doesn’t go public with the information, he got her thrown into Arkham Asylum and she was able to get out of there after 10 years when Carmine Falcone dies at the hands of The Riddler.

The Aftermath of Sofia Getting Out of Arkham Was Deadly For The Falcones

Now, that Sofia Falcone is not actually The Hangman in the series, she holds a massive grudge against her father and the Falcone family. When she was captured by the police and sent to Arkham, almost all of her family gave false testimony stating that she was mentally unstable.

Everyone except Julain Rush believed that she was mentally unstable. This is the reason why she found out that Oz was betraying her behind her back, she completely lost trust in everything, and everyone ended up killing her entire family except Johnny Viti and Gia.

Now that all in the Falcone family are dead, Sofia will take over the Falcone crime family and will probably use Johnny for his connections and once she has everything in control, she will get rid of him as well. So let’s wait and see what happens. Until then, stay tuned with us for future updates!
