The Penguin with its first two episodes has won over people who cannot get over how good and intriguing this series is turning out to be. The overall aesthetic and the way Oswald Cobblepot is being portrayed in the series is something fresh. In the series, we see Ozwald Cobb or Penguin trying to claw his way to the top of Gotham’s crime empire by double-crossing the Falcones. Johnny Viti Is Carmine Falcone’s Nephew
Johnny Viti is one of the underbosses in Carmine Falcone’s criminal empire and is also his nephew. In The Penguin, he is one of the biggest hurdles in Ozwald’s way to the top of the food chain. In episode 2, he made a plan to frame Johnny Viti for the murder of Alberto Falcone. However, his plan failed and Johnny was saved from being killed.
In this series, Sofia Falcone who is supposed to inherit all the power after the death of Alberto, is being constantly sidelined by Johnny, and taking advantage of this, Ozwald has won her favor by the end of episode 2. Now, Sofia might take the help of Ozwald to take the power that belongs to her.
Is Johnny Viti a Batman Villain in the Comics?
Johnny Viti made his first appearance in DC with Batman#407 and was one of the reasons for the promotion of Jim Gordon to the rank of Captain. In this comic issue, to put a leash on Jim Gordon, Falcone, along with the then commissioner of GCPD came up with a plan to abduct Jim’s wife and newborn son.
Jim managed to shoot down some of the goons but Johnny Viti managed to run off with his son. However, Bruce had an idea of something like this going down so he was present there in hiding and was able to rescue Jim’s son. Soon it was revealed that Commissioner Loeb was involved in this and he resigned from his post; soon after this Jim was promoted to the Captain of GCPD. So yes, Johnny Viti has been a Batman villain briefly but was soon enough killed by the serial killer named Holiday who turned out to be the presumed dead Alberto Falcone.
