In Squid Game Season 2, Park Sung-hoon plays the role of the trans person Hyun-ju. When his involvement in the series was announced, it did invite a lot of backlash from his fanbase but the actor reassured his fans that this character is going to break stereotypes. You might recognize Park Sung-hoon from shows like Queen of Tears and The Glory.

Hyun-Ju Participates in Squid Game to Raise Money for Their Transition Surgery

In Squid Game 2, Hyun-Ju joins in as player 120 who is in the game so that they can raise enough money to complete her gender affirmation surgery. Before transitioning, they were a sergeant in the Special Forces. This was revealed when the players under Gi-hun retaliated and they gave quick training to the players unfamiliar with guns on how to use an MP-5 Sub Machine Gun.

After winning the money from the game, they plan on moving to Thailand. By the end of Squid Game Season 2, we see that Hyun-Ju is alive in the game but they have surrendered along with other players after running out of ammunition.
