How to Use the Lighthouse Beam to Reveal Rare Chests in Fortnite

- Land at Calamari Canyon POI and take the stairs to the top of the lighthouse or land directly atop the lighthouse
- Interact with the giant light (beacon) by looking at it and pressing the interaction button (E on PC, X/Square on controller)
- Wait until the lighthouse beam turns on
- Once the light beam turns on, it will slowly rotate clockwise
- Follow the beam and look for a rift that opens up nearby
- At the rift’s location a rare chest will be revealed on the ground
- Quickly descend and open the chest before they disappear

No, the Fortnite lighthouse infinite Sprites glitch does not work anymore. Epic Games took note of players using this exploit. It was being used to farm rare loot in tandem with the lighthouse’s beam. Instead of opening the rare chest after it appeared, players would break it.
This resulted in another rare chest being rifted in. Think of this as an early version of reopenable chests. Until players were forced to rotate due to the storm or other enemies, they could use this glitch to reopen the rare chest indefinitely.
Why is the Lighthouse Beam Not Working in Fortnite?
Epic Games patched the Fortnite infinite Sprites exploit via a hotfix on July 23, 2026. As a result, they disabled the lighthouse beam as well in Fortnite. Without being able to activate it, the rare chest will never appear, which means players will no longer be able to exploit it.
