What to Expect in Invincible Season 3 as per Comics?

In Short
  • Oliver will gain his powers and call himself Kid Omni-Man in Invincible Season 3.
  • Mark will wear his iconic blue suit.
  • Invincible Season 3 will also bring us a new villain called Powerplex.

Mark Grayson, or Invincible, is set to return to our screens soon. Season 3 of Invincible will be released in February 2025, bringing us the much-awaited next chapter in one of the most loved superhero shows. So, at this point, I am pretty sure that we all know the comic book roots of Invincible, and how closely the series follows the comics. We can predict what we might get to see in Invincible Season 3 based on what we have previously seen and the comic run. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at all the possibilities.

1. Oliver as Kid Omni-Man

In the previous season of Invincible, we see that Mark brought his half-brother to Earth who was later on named Oliver by Mark’s mother, Debbie. We already know that Oliver grows faster than normal Humans or Viltrumites because of his Thraxan genes. Because of that, we will see Oliver as a teenager in Invincible Season 3.

Since his body ages rather faster, his powers manifest quicker, and in the upcoming season, he will put on a suit and will be under Mark’s training to become a Superhero and will appear as kid Omni-Man in the upcoming season.

2. Allen and Omni-Man’s Escape

In the final few episodes of Invincible Season 2, we get to see that Allen gets himself captured by the Viltrumites willingly so that he can find Omni-Man and convince him to fight alongside the Coalition of Planets against the Viltrumite Empire. We see that Allen finds Nolan almost instantly and starts talking to him about the escape from the prison so they can team up with Mark and Oliver to put an end to the Viltrumited alongside the Coalition of Planets’.

3. Mark Wearing a New Blue Suit

Invincible Season 3 will also introduce the well-known blue suit worn by Mark as Invincible in the comic books. Art creates this new suit for Mark as a courtesy while making a suit for Oliver as a symbol of a change in Mark’s pace.

However, from the point where Mark puts on this new suit, there is a massive change in pace. Invincible becomes much more gritty and dark compared to his characteristic carefree nature but as time passes, in comics, Mark transitions back to his original suit refusing to go down that darker path.

4. The Invincible War

With the upcoming season 3, people speculate they will see the Invincible War event happen. This speculation arose after the introduction of Angstrom Levy and was reinforced when Mark and Angstrom fought each other and Mark killed Levy. In the comics, Angstrom Levy did not die and using his powers brought together all the evil variants of Invincible to fight against the Mark Grayson. This event is known as Invincible War in the comics.

5. Reemergence of The ReAnimen

Reanimens were introduced to us when Mark and his friends went to college. A psychotic scientist called DA Sinclair was abducting students and turning them into cyborgs also called The ReAnimen. However, after Invincible stops him, the GDA captures Sinclair but Cecil employs him to work for him and makes ReAnimen fight inhuman threats.

It looks like Cecil has fully implemented this and created an army of ReAnimen with which Mark is not very happy. DA Sinclair’s technology hurt Mark’s friends and this is why he is completely against using them. So, this is something Mark and Cecil are going to be disagreeing on.

6. Mark and Allen Exploiting Viltrumite Weaknesses

When Mark and Nolan fought other Viltrumites on Thraxa, Nolan was captured by the Viltrumites and as he was being taken away, he asked Mark to read his books. Initially, Mark did not understand what Nolan meant by that but when he found out about the sci-fi books his father wrote, he had an idea that these books might contain things that can hurt Viltrumites.

Later, when Allen recovered and came to Earth to recruit Mark in the Coalition of Planets, Mark asked Allen about the things mentioned in the books. To this, Allen confirmed that everything written by Nolan was true and could potentially hurt Viltrumites.

In the upcoming season, Allen and Mark could go to find these things to fend off Viltrumites when they attack Earth. Nolan could also join them if he agrees to accompany Allen in escaping from the Viltrumite prison.

7. Mark vs Cecil

Since the very first season, there have been multiple accounts where Cecil and Mark have not seen eye to eye. However, in season 3 it looks like this difference of opinions has turned into something really serious. Based on the trailer of Invincible season 3, the root cause of this conflict appears to be Cecil and the GDA using DA Sinclair’s technology to reanimate dead soldiers. As of now, this is all we know about this conflict and further details will be revealed as the new season releases.

8. Introduction of Powerplex

Invincible season 3 will also introduce us to a new villain called Powerplex. This villain was created by Image Comics by taking inspiration from Zack Snyder’s Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. Scott Duvall was a regular scientist whose sister was killed when Mark and Omni-Man were fighting. Later on, he swore to extract vengeance from Invincible and set a trap for him. Unfortunately, his plan didn’t work out, and killed his wife and daughter instead.

Following this, he built himself a suit that siphoned high-voltage electricity, one of the few weaknesses of Viltrumites. His character is very much like Bruce Wayne as seen in B vs S who wanted to take down Superman for killing a large number of his employees.
