This November, a Dune prequel titled Dune: Prophecy is set to release on HBO and Max. This series will be set 10,000 years before the events of the first Dune movie and will act as what you can say is an origin for the Bene Gesserit and how they rose to power. However, since the entire Dune franchise is adapted from a novel series, it might make you wonder which book Dune Prophecy is based on, here we have answered it.
Dune Prophecy Is Based On Sisterhood of Dune
Dune: Prophecy was initially named Dune: Sisterhood hinting towards the book it is based on. The upcoming series will bring to life the “Sisterhood of Dune” novel written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. This series will show us the rise of House Harkonnen and the sisterhood to the level of power we have seen in the Dune movies. This series will also give us the origin of the sect known as the Bene Gesserit. The trailers and teasers of Dune: Prophecy we have seen so far tell us that this series is going to be highly political involving a lot of scheming both good and bad.
However, even though the Dune franchise has been bringing to life the stories we have seen in the books, they do not just blindly copy it but just take the basic plotline and build a story not so similar to the books and yet the same. So, let’s wait till November 2024 to find out what this series will bring to us, and till then stay tuned for further updates.
