After a successful launch of the Vivo V9, the Chinese giant is now gearing up to launch its next device in India very soon. And we might now know which one and exactly when.
Vivo has today sent press invites for a launch on May 29, with no additional info except for a huge ‘X’ and a fingerprint at the center. This pretty much confirms that Vivo is launching its latest smartphone – Vivo X21 – in India on the said date.
Vivo wouldn’t want to miss out on the opportunity to be the first one to bring an under-display fingerprint sensor phone to India, so it’ll most likely be the Vivo X21 UD.
Specifications
Coming to the nitty gritties, the Vivo X21 UD is a successor to the Vivo X20 Plus UD which was showcased at CES 2018 earlier this year before being launched in China. The X20 Plus UD was the company’s first phone with an on-screen fingerprint sensor.
The Vivo X21 UD sports a 6.28-inch Full-HD+ Super AMOLED screen with 19:9 aspect ratio (to accommodate the notch) and a 1080×2280 resolution. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
The highlight of the Vivo X21 UD, however, is the in-display fingerprint sensor that has been embedded in the middle bottom of the screen.
As for the optics department, Vivo X21 UD packs a dual-rear camera setup with a 12MP primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and a 5MP secondary sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. The selfie camera on the front is a 12MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture and features such as IR fill light, 3D mapping, and face unlock.
Vivo X21 UD packs inside a decent 3,200mAh battery pack and a USB Type-C port, with support for fast charging. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box with its own Funtouch OS 4.0 skin on top but thanks to Google, you’ll be able to try out Android P beta on this device right away.
Price And Availability
There no word on the price as of now but the Vivo X21 is shaping up to be a strong mid-range contender. The device is priced at CNY 3,598 in China, which would translate to around ₹38,000 in India – which is a steep price to pay just for the new fingerprint sensor.
