The Mac Pro was the most powerful computer Apple built back in the day. In 2013, when the Mac Pro ‘trashcan’ was launched, it featured a revolutionary cooling system (for something so compact) and boasted of a spec-sheet to make pros covet it.
Over time, pros started depending on the Mac Pro for everything they did… 8K video editing? Mac Pro. Detailed 3D Modelling and Design? Mac Pro. Complex physics simulations? Mac Pro. But, year after year, as the Mac Pro got older, it looked like Apple was abandoning its truly ‘Pro’ machine in favor of the 5K iMac, and later the iMac Pro.
Fortunately, if you’re one of the people who has been waiting for the Mac Pro, keeping your fingers crossed at every Apple event since 2013, and sighing with disappointment as year after year the Cupertino giant launched MacBooks, MacBook Pros, iMacs, iPhones, Apple TVs, and iPads, well, you’ll be glad to know that the company has finally confirmed a new Mac Pro.
In an interview with TechCrunch, Tom Boger, senior director of Mac Hardware Product Marketing, confirmed “the Mac Pro is a 2019 product.”
The Mac Pro is a 2019 product.
Obviously, with Apple’s iMac Pro having gone on sale, the company wants users to be able to make purchasing decisions about it, and not hold back wondering if a new Mac Pro will make an appearance later this very year. “We know that there’s a lot of customers today that are making purchase decisions on the iMac Pro and whether or not they should wait for the Mac Pro,” said Boger.
The revelations were made to TechCrunch journalist Matthew Panzarino, who was invited to Apple Park to discuss the future of Mac, and Apple’s product strategy going forward into the future of what is potentially a soon-to-be trillion dollar company.
