Playing a tower defense game is easy, but to clear levels easily, it is important to get the best units that fit your strategy. In Universal Tower Defense X, it is no different. You get different styles of anime characters, from hybrid or ground damage dealers to money makers. This makes it hard to pick the meta units easily. Check out our Universal Tower Defense X tier list, which ranks the best units in the game so you can win all your levels smoothly and know which characters to pull.
Editor’s Note: We updated the Universal Tower Defense X tier list on May 1, 2026, after the 2.5 update.

Best Universal Tower Defense X Units
Below, we have listed all the characters from Universal Tower Defense X based on their abilities. We have also mentioned why you should pull a specific Universal Tower Defense character.
SS Tier Units
These units are the absolute best in the game, defining the current meta through infinite scaling, massive damage, or unique boss-killing mechanics.
Unite Name Role Explanation Jinoo (Monarch) DPS / Summoner Infinite scaling through mana and shadow summons. Extends defense line and dominates long modes once ramped. Water God (Primordial) DPS / Utility Combines DoT, slow, crit ramp, and scaling damage. Thrives in longer maps with strong synergy. First Emperor (Greatest) Specialist / Support DPS Extremely flexible with stance switching. Adds CC, bleed, and team follow-up attacks, boosting overall team output. Ant King (Savage) DPS Carry Kill-based scaling with strong AoE and slow. Snowballs hard and can carry entire waves. Phantom Captain (EVO) DPS / Summoner Planes ignore range limits and provide constant AoE pressure with strong burst windows.
S+ Tier Units
If you are unable to pull SS tier units, these Universal Tower Defense X characters will let you slice through the enemy list with ease.
Unite Name Role Explanation Migumen (Finale) DPS True damage and massive burst. One of the highest damage nukes but risky due to self-stun. Ichiko (Rage) DPS Strong scaling through kills with built-in stun. Becomes a late-game powerhouse. Dragon Guy (Silverite) DPS / Utility Burst transformation with strong synergy and emergency tools. Falls off after duration ends. Berserker (Enraged) DPS Excellent anti-armor unit with strong scaling. Less effective against normal waves. Underworld God (Death) DPS / CC Gains damage per debuff and adds stun after scaling. Strong mix of control and damage. Enlightened God (Holy) Support / DPS Provides stacking buffs and flexible stance utility. Needs setup to shine. First Human (Father) Support / DPS Copies nearby unit effects for flexible utility. Strong but team-dependent. Tai Yang Specialist Manual targeting with burn, stun, and confusion. Best in fire-heavy setups.
S Tier Units
The S tier units are more about going through the story mode than clearing raids or boss fights. Move to better units as soon as you can.
Unite Name Role Explanation Grommjaw (Panther) DPS / Debuffer Applies damage vulnerability and bleed scaling, boosting team damage output. Bio-Android DPS Evolves mid-game into a strong carry with CC. Slow start but strong payoff. Rohan & Robot 16 DPS Consistent combo damage with strong burst. Needs ramp time. Super Roku (Enraged) DPS / Utility Teleport and stun mechanics provide strong control. Weak early, strong late. Spade (Donut) DPS Strong burn DoT that bypasses defenses. Needs time to ramp damage. Jangluu (Eclipse) DPS / Support Freeze-based damage amplifier with scaling crit damage. Needs setup.
A Tier Units
These units provide invaluable utility (buffs, cooldown reduction, time stops) or high-level control that is essential for clearing difficult content.
| Unite Name | Role | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| Kriatu (Cheater) | DPS | Highly flexible scaling with different paths. Strong but complex to use. |
| Sasku (Chakra) | DPS / CC | Reliable stun and burn damage. Limited by short range. |
| Cyborg (Fearless) | DPS / Economy | Provides free upgrades and scaling but pauses damage periodically. |
| Ultiorra (Oblivion) | DPS | Resurrection mechanic with burst damage. Inconsistent performance. |
| Fallen Prince (Ruthless) | DPS | Strong crit scaling and armor damage. Needs kills to reach peak. |
| Psycho (100%) | DPS / Utility | Provides slow aura and synergy with CC units. Short range limits usage. |
| Lord of Flies (Tempered) | DPS / Support | Delayed burst with stun immunity support. Timing-dependent. |
B Tier Units
Solid units that perform well but lack the game-breaking scaling or unique mechanics found in the S-tier.
Unite Name Role Explanation Shakumira DPS Decent early but outclassed later by stronger units. Ruka DPS / Support Works well in freeze teams but relies heavily on synergy. Pebble DPS / Utility Gains damage through knockback setups. Can disrupt positioning. Gen DPS Scales with range buffs but slow attack speed limits impact. Greybeard DPS Strong against armor but lacks range and speed. Nejo Support Provides crit buffs but limited range reduces effectiveness. Masked Ninja Support Niche buffer for specific comps only. Footballer (Ego) DPS / Support Strong against low HP enemies but weak otherwise. Nellee (Primal) DPS Form switching mechanic hurts consistency and damage uptime.
C Tier Units
Functional units for early game or specific niche uses, but generally replaced by higher-tier units later on.
Unite Name Role Explanation Laffy Early DPS Minor scaling but extremely low stats. Falls off quickly. Garu Early DPS Unique immunity but damage and range are too low. Roku Early DPS Small scaling that resets every wave, making it ineffective. Ranji Early DPS Slow attack speed with no scaling or utility. Nutaru (Kid) Early DPS Weak crit-based unit that requires synergy to function.
D Tier Units
These units are generally considered underpowered, inconsistent, or useless in the current meta.
Unite Name Role Explanation Namo Support Very weak support with little impact even early game. Orahemi Support Minimal utility and quickly replaced by better options.
