- The Finals has rolled out a new 1.4.0 update patch with meaningful balance and QoL changes.

- There are weapon balancing changes for the AKM, RPG-7 used by heavy class, flamethrower, LH1, and more.
The first major update for the first-person online shooter The Finals is out. And the new 1.4.0 patch brings with it numerous QoL updates and balance changes. When I say tons of them, there are a lot of updates for gadgets, weapons, and specializations that will change the gameplay in a meaningful way.
Embark Studios announced the 1.4.0 patch through its Steam news page and the official The Finals X account (formerly Twitter). If you’ve been playing the game regularly, some of these new changes will bring happiness to your heart.
The first major change is how the C4 works. The new patch reduces the radius of the C4, dropping it from 2.4m to 1.6m. Furthermore, the damage has dropped from 240 to 210, along with the damage multiplier being reduced from 1.3 to 1. This will make using the C4 a bit more mindful and not allow you to take down mediums with ease.
Similarly, mines also got their player damage reduced from 160 to 140, which means light class players finally have a chance to survive a mine blast and evade their eventual death (possibly using the invisibility perk).
The damage reduction is paired with a radius increase from 3.5m to 4m, and they will now take 1.6 seconds to arm. This gives some breathing room to a team and forces players to think before panic-throwing a mine. Similarly, the RPG lugged around by heavy class players has got its damage and damage radius reduced with increased dispersion. Also, the dome shield for heavy players now has less health, reduced from 350 to 300 HP.
Furthermore, a major map change comes in the form of snowy Monaco, right in time for the holiday season. The map will be covered with snow from December 20 to January 3, 2024. There are a few weapon balancing changes in store as well, including a slight adjustment to the recoil pattern of the AKM, fire rate increase for the flamethrower, and 45 -> 47 damage increase for LH1
As for other QoL changes, the player health bar will now use squad colors if the option gets turned on. Similarly, this update brings minor polishes to the social screen and a brand new warning on the UI if you are in danger of getting AFK kicked. There are a lot of changes, and we suggest heading to the official Steam news page (or their X account) to read the complete patch notes.
From our perspective, these changes will impact the game in a meaningful way, but we will have to spend some time in-game to give you a conclusive idea. What do you think of them? Do let us know in the comment section below.
