To the rejoice of Marvel fans, Spider-Man is set to hit the screens once again in 2026 with Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The official title of Spider-Man 4 was revealed at the beginning of April during CinemaCon, and details about the cast and plot have not yet been revealed. However, a new leak has surfaced about the villains set to appear in the upcoming Spider-Man movie. Yes, you read that right, “villains” according to the revelation. Spider-Man Brand New Day will feature three villains, and right here, we will discuss everything you should know about it.

Who Will Be the Villains in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

According to a report, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will feature Scorpion, Boomerang, and Tombstone as villains. This report came to light from the recent Disney Blockbuster Consumer Products Presentation, where Chris Higashi was present as an attendee.

Held at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, according to Hagashi, the presentation focused a lot on Spider-Man, and Chris took to their Instagram handle and posted an image featuring Spidey, Moana, and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story 5 together with a caption saying-

Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Scorpion, Boomerang and Tombstone. ‘Nuff Said. 2026 looks awesome!

However, after this post caught a lot of attention online, it was taken down, erasing all traces to track down the source of this report. However, taking it down further reinforces the fact that Chris Higashi was onto something with this revelation.

Who Are Scorpion, Tombstone, and Boomerang in Marvel?

Since we have already talked about the villains who will allegedly appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it only makes sense that we learn everything we should know about the bad guys beforehand to prepare ourselves for what is to come. So, here is all you should know about Scorpion, Tombstone, and Boomerang in Marvel.

1. Scorpion (Mac Gargan)

Making his debut in The Amazing Spider-Man #19 in 1964, we were introduced to a private investigator named Mac Gargan. J. Jonah Jameson hired him to investigate Peter and find out how he was able to get extraordinary pictures of Spider-Man. However, Mac was easily outsmarted by Peter at every turn courtesy of Peter’s Spidey Sense. Jameson was frustrated at the continuous failures of Mac and gave him $10,000 to be a part of  Dr. Farley Stillwell’s experiment, which would grant Mac the abilities of an animal if things went right.

The experiment worked and granted Mac Gargan the powers of a Scorpion, but as a side effect, it drove him insane and turned him into a lethal and twisted villain. Most of the time, Spider-Man and Scorpion fought each other when Scorpion tried to kill Jameson for what he had done to Mac, resulting in the enmity shared by Spider-Man and Scorpion.

2. Tombstone (Lonnie Lincoln)

Tombstone or Lonnie Lincoln has appeared in Marvel comics mostly as a crime boss operating out of Harlem. However, he was not inherently bad but was born with a rare condition, because of which his skin had no pigmentation, rendering him pale. It also affected his vocal cords, and he could only talk in whispers.

Because of this, he was a victim of pranks and bullying in school, which gradually turned him into a bully himself. He was given the nickname of Tombstone in high school. However, one person, Robbie Robertson, an aspiring journalist, was always nice to him. But later, Lonnie found out that Robbie was using him to get a story for himself.

After years, Lonnie became a crime boss and attempted to kill Robbie Robertson, but in an attempt to do so, was exposed to a chemical named Diox-3 in the comic ‘Web of Spider-Man #66′, released in 1985. This chemical turned him into a supervillain, giving him impenetrable skin and superhuman strength.

3. Boomerang (Frederick Myers)

Fred Myers was born in Australia but immigrated to the United States as a young boy. He loved baseball with all his heart, and because of his dedication to the sport, he developed an extraordinary pitching arm and an aim that can be compared to that of Bullseye. He made a name for himself in the world of baseball. However, while he was playing in the major leagues, he was suspended under the accusation of accepting bribes.

After a while, he was contacted by an underground criminal organization called Secret Empire, which gave him a special suit and weaponry, turning Frederick into one of their agents, codenamed Boomerang. However, the Secret Empire didn’t last too long, and Frederick moved back to Australia only to be contacted by Justin Hammer, who gave him a more advanced suit and much more efficient weaponry, turning him into an assassin.

Since then, Boomerang has been a part of multiple teams, most of which have fought against Spider-Man. However, he is not inherently a bad guy and has often worked alongside Spider-Man as somewhat of an anti-hero.

Could This Spider-Man Brand New Day Villains Reveal Turn Out to be True?

Now, since the reveal of these three villains is heating up on the internet, it all hangs on one question: Is this reveal true or not? If we look at the facts behind it, it all adds up since Disney recently did really host a Disney Blockbuster Consumer Products presentation.

Moreover, the original post made by Chris Higashi has been taken down from virtually every social media platform. This further enhances suspicion that the reveal of Scorpion, Boomerang, and Tombstone appearing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day could indeed be true. However, unless we have an official confirmation from Marvel, nothing can be said to be true, so let’s wait and see what Marvel has in store for us.

What Comic Book Spider-Man: Brand New Day Could Adapt Based on These Villains?

Generally, MCU’s Spider-Man movies don’t follow a particular comic book. However, now that we know Scorpion, Boomerang, and Tombstone will probably be a part of the upcoming Spider-Man movie, you would be surprised to know that this is not going to be the first time these characters have come together against Spider-Man.

This has happened before in Marvel Comics when these three villains have come together to fight off Spider-Man, and we get to see this in The Superior Foes of Spider-Man (2013-2015). In this comic book, we get to see the three villains form a team called Superior Foes along with the Sinister Six to fight Spider-Man. Now, the thing to note here is that this comic run, even though it features all three of these villains in a team, they are somewhat of side characters, except Boomerang, and a major part of it is seen through the POV of the bad guys.

Since Scorpion, Boomerang, and Tombstone are rumored to be the villains in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, there is a good chance that we might see the adaptation of one of the volumes of The Superior Foes of Spider-Man, but with heavy artistic liberty.

The most Marvel could do is bring us the team of supervillains. Since there are confirmed reports that Marvel has been actively looking for actors to play prison inmates, there is a chance that we might also get to see the return of Vulture and a follow-up to the Scorpion teaser seen in the post-credit scene of Spider-Man: Homecoming.
