What Is the System in Solo Leveling?

Before we move on to its history and creator, let’s first discuss what the System is. If you are familiar with video games, especially RPGs, then understanding the system will be a walk in the park for you. The System in Solo Leveling is created with video game design in mind, akin to an RPG’s character progression system.
The System chooses only one player, and the main goal of this program is to help its host level up and get stronger. To do that, the System assigns dungeon-clearing quests to the player and presents them with rewards like skills, abilities, stats boost, and more, upon completion.
Also, Sung Jinwoo earned coins by killing enemies during the quests assigned, and he was able to use the currency in the in-game store to unlock items such as consumables and weapons, to aid in his leveling-up journey.
Lastly, the System bestows the player with infinite inventory space to store all the vital items he collects across his journey. Thus, the System is solely built around the player, and only they can see and access it in Solo Leveling. Who Created the System in Solo Leveling?

Remember the giant statue with a sinister smile in the Double Dungeon? He is called Kandiaru and is the secret boss of the Double Dungeon. He created himself as the giant Statue of God, a copy of the Absolute Being, with his iconic creepy smile.
Kandiaru was the architect who created the magical system in Solo Leveling. The reason behind the creation of the system was to find the rightful human vessel for Ashborn, the Shadow Monarch.
The original plan was to get the player to flourish well and let the Ashborn take over the vessel later. However, Ashborn later changes his mind and chooses Sung Jinwoo as his successor. Then, the OG Shadow Monarch passes down his powers to our hero during Jinwoo’s return to Double Dungeon.
Later, in the Monarchs War arc, Jinwoo was once again given a new chance at life when Ashborn grants all of his powers to Jinwoo using his black heart. At that moment, the complete purpose of the system is fulfilled, and Sung Jinwoo is resurrected as the new Shadow Monarch.
That’s everything you need to know about the System in Solo Leveling. It was a simple power-up system, yet one of the best we have seen in manhwas so far. It was the primary reason behind its widespread success and inspired the next wave of leveling-up manhwa like Solo Leveling.
