In Short

Solo Leveling isn’t the same anymore. In the beginning, the series introduced the fans to the weak protagonist, Sung Jinwoo, and now, we can’t really say that the present-day Jinwoo is the same boy we met at the start of the series. The double dungeon that got him nearly killed gave him a second chance at life, but this time for a greater cause. After the System chooses him as a player, Jinwoo’s life takes a U-turn. After that, he starts astonishing the fandom with his newfound powers. One of these new abilities is the Monarch’s Domain, which he uses in the battle against Kargalgan in the Demon Castle. As stated by Jinwoo, a Monarch’s Domain is a job-exclusive skill that he received after hitting the 70th floor in the Demon Castle. Jinwoo is the first human to get access to this ability after Ashborn, the Shadow Monarch himself. Check out all of Jinwoo’s powers and abilities here.

This ability enables the user to project their shadow in any region and enhances the powers of any shadow by 50% during a battle. However, only the shadows within that specific range can take advantage of this ability, not the ones outside of it.

Moreover, not only the shadows but also the Monarch can gain additional strength that they can take advantage of. The Monarch is also able to create terrains, summon shadows, and manipulate the environment as per their will.

The domain also serves as a safe place that doesn’t let external attacks harm the Monarchs when they are inside. Intriguingly, if, by any chance, the Monarch manages to catch an enemy within the domain, it gets harder for the enemy to escape easily. However, the skill acts differently for every Monarch; to be precise, the Monarch’s domain adapts itself according to the user’s expertise.

So, even though Jinwoo is able to use this ability effectively, it could have been used differently if it had been someone else using the Monarch’s Domain.

In the Solo Leveling anime series, Jinwoo first used Monarch’s Domain in front of Kargalgan and his high Orcs army. Kargalgan initially looked down on Jinwoo and his shadow army, so it was the domain that eventually helped our hero get the upper hand in the fight. After that, we witnessed Jinwoo unleashing Monarch’s domain while confronting Baran’s clone in the demon castle. The boy has evolved in terms of powers after catching sight of Ashborn, and undoubtedly, Monarch’s domain is one of the strongest skills he harbors.

The anime hasn’t yet revealed the range limitations of the Monarch’s Domain. However, as the story progresses, we will witness Jinwoo expanding this ability’s range and capabilities, thus, boosting his shadow soldiers scattered across the battlefield.
