How Was Mark Trying to Send a Message to His Innie in Episode 3?
In the final episode of Severance Season 1, Mark’s innie tells his sister, Devon, “She’s alive,” and the season ends at that very revelation. Devon is sure that Mark’s innie is talking about Gemma, but Mark is in complete denial, so much so that he refuses to even entertain the possibility. At Devon’s persuasion, Mark timed how long it took for him to reach his office and then tried to burn a message reading “Who is alive?” into his retinas using a bright light.
Mark was trying to send this message to his innie to confirm who his innie was talking about when he told Devon, “She’s alive.” However, he didn’t need to since the answer to this question walked itself to him.
Why Did Cobel Run Away From Helly in Severance Season 2 Episode 3?
The latest episode of Severance Season 2 begins with a shot of Cobel sleeping in her car, driving away from the city to relocate and leave Lumon behind. However, she changed her mind and turned back to claim her rightful place as the manager of the severed floor. She got back and confronted Helena to ask for what she deserved. She asked Helena to remove Milchick from the position and put her back in power.
To which Helena says, “Why don’t we rest?”. Here, the word Reset could hint that Helena wants Harmony to go through a procedure, or it could be a threat to kill Harmony.
Listening to this, Cobel’s face beamed with terror as she ran back to her car and drove away. It seems that Cobel realized that now that she is not working with the company anymore and is aware of their secrets, Cobel is a loose end that Lumon might try to get rid of and ran away to save herself. It’s also possible that Cobel realized that she could end up like Gemma, and if she steps into the building, and might never be able to step out of it.
Why Did Mark Reintegrate Himself in Severance Season 2?
The protagonist of Severance, Mark, has had an interesting character arc. Since Season 1, the driving factor of Mark’s joining Lumon was the death of his wife, Gemma. However, things take a turn when Mark’s innie tells his sister, Devon, that Gemma is alive as Miss Casey behind the walls of Lumon’s severed floor. In the first two episodes of Severance Season 2, Mark is in denial about Gemma being alive, but in episode 3, Reghabi confirms that Gemma is alive.
This revelation completely nullifies the reason Mark decided to sever himself, and now that he knows his wife is alive, he has to get her out of there. Mark gets himself reintegrated so that he can find Gemma and get her out of Lumon. This is a testament to how deeply Mark loves Gemma since he witnessed Petey lose his mind after reintegrating and he is willing to take the risk for the sake of rescuing Gemma.
