Samsung Galaxy S9 Teasers Highlight Animated Emojis, Low-Light Shots and High FPS Slo-Mo

Galaxy S9 & S9 Plus

It would seem we know everything there is to know about the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ thanks to a slew of rumours before MWC 2018. As we inch closer to the actual unveiling, Samsung has started sharing glimpses of the software features that could make it to the flagship devices.

The company has now shared three teasers for the S9 series, tipping off some of the headlining features of its flagship series.

Of the three teasers, the first one is clearly talking about speed. From airplanes to nimble boxing, to a rollercoaster, a cheetah and other fast things you can’t set your eyes on easily. The teaser ends with a slo-mo shot of a paraglider in action, after the video began in full speed.

The slowed-down frames suggest that the S9 and S9+ could feature slow-motion video capture at high frame rates without pixelation or sacrificing quality. With AI doing the heavy-lifting, the S9 duo will also be able to slow down relevant parts of the video as seen in the video above.

The second one is clearly all about low-light photography which Samsung has been claiming to be the forte of the S-series flagships for long. The f/1.7 aperture lenses on both – Galaxy S7 and S8 – render superb low-light photography and with the S9, the ability could enhance a bit further. Rumors have suggested that Samsung will use the largest lens in a smartphone yet with an aperture of f/1.5.

The third teaser is more expressive and shows the several walks of life of an ordinary man. Towards the end, his face transforms into an animated emoji, and this suggests that Samsung could be getting aboard the Animoji train along with Apple and Huawei.

The company will unveil the two devices on February 25 i.e. a day before MWC 2018 commences. In addition to the hardware and design, software will be a key focal point for Samsung this year, at least in terms of camera and AR. We can’t wait to find out if the phones actually deliver on these claims.
