With the Galaxy Note 9 and the Gear S4 smartwatch to be launched soon, Samsung is also prepping up for its other flagship device, the Galaxy S10, which is expected to be launched next year. The Galaxy S10 will mark the company’s 10th-anniversary flagship, and Samsung is said to be pulling out all the stops. While we already know that the device will be unveiled at CES 2019, and will be dropping the iris scanner, recent reports have dropped more hints about the upcoming flagship.

As per older reports the Samsung Galaxy S10 has the codename ‘Beyond’. Now, Korea’s ETNews says Samsung is preparing three variants of the Galaxy S10 codenamed Beyond 0, Beyond 1 and Beyond 2.

The Beyond 0 is said to be an “entry-level” model with a 5.8-inch flat display panel and will be the cheapest of the lot. The Beyond 1 is also said to feature a 5.8-inch display but it might feature a curved panel similar to the Galaxy S9. Beyond 2 will be the Galaxy S9+’s successor with its 6.2-inch curved display. As per the report, Samsung’s triple-camera system is said to be exclusive to the Beyond 2 model.

Speaking of the triple-camera system, there are no technical details known as of now. However, one can presume that it is Samsung’s attempt to compete with Huawei’s flagship offering, the P20 Pro, which features a 40-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel secondary sensor backed up by a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor.

If the reports turn out to be true, this would be the first time that Samsung is offering three variants of its flagship smartphone. Back in 2015, it started rolling out the Galaxy S6 and the S6 edge and then changed the nomenclature with the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in 2017. It would be interesting to see how Samsung would name the three devices.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 is expected to arrive in January-February 2019 just like its predecessor, with the top-end variant touted to cross the $1000 mark.
