Resident Evil Requiem has multiple endings, but only one of them is canon. Resident Evil Requiem: Point of No Return

The Point of No Return in Resident Evil Requiem is when the game enters the ARK facility. Here, the game will change perspective multiple times between Leon and Grace. There would be a moment when Leon would have to wait for an elevator while defeating lickers and other enemies in the Bioweapon Repository or B4 Staff Room. This is the point of no return, and you should create a manual save here before progressing further. So, make sure to grab the best Resident Evil Requiem weapons by this point to tackle the final boss.

Fortunately, if you do forget to create a save, the game allows you to return to the same exact point after completing the bad ending. The endings will be decided based on what Grace chooses to do with the Elpis. She will get two options at the end:

  • Destroy Elpis: Bad Ending
  • Release Elpis: True Ending (Canon)

Now, let’s take a look at both the Resident Evil Requiem endings.

Resident Evil Requiem Bad Ending — Leon Dies

First, let’s talk about the bad ending in Resident Evil 9. This ending leads to Leon’s death in Requiem, which I am sure none of us want to actually happen. Here is everything that happens in the bad ending:

  • Leon is at the last stage of Raccon City Syndrome as both Grace and him makes their way to the ARK facility.
  • Zeno, the new Albert Wesker, appears, and Leon tries to fight him. Leon gets easily manhandled due to his sick body.
  • Grace chooses to destroy Elpis.
  • The ARK facility starts falling apart, as Leon stabs Zeno with his Axe and helps Grace reach a secure platform.
  • Zeno shoots Leon in the face, and he dies.
  • The Ark Facility is destroyed completely, and Zeno gets buried with it.
  • Grace leaves the facility but expresses that she regrets not saving Leon.

Now, if you plan to get both endings in RE9, you should start by getting the bad ending first. This is because the game prompts you to reload to a save point to replay the ending. You don’t get this option if you get the good ending first.

Resident Evil Requiem True Ending — Leon Survives

Now, the good ending is the canon storyline for Resident Evil Requiem. In this ending, Grace saves Leon by curing his infection. Here is how it plays out:

  • When given the choice to destroy or release Elpis, Grace chooses to release Elpis.
  • Zeno picks up the Elpis and injects himself with it. This cures him of the virus and removes all his powers.
  • Victor Gideon appears and kills Zeno after an argument.
  • Meanwhile, Grace injects Leon with Elpis, curing him of the infection.
  • Now, Leon and Victor fight each other. Victor transforms into the last stage Nemesis form introduced in Resident Evil 3.
  • After Leon defeats Victor, one BSAA agent appears and tells Leon that Captain Redfield (likely Chris) wants to speak with him.
  • Both Leon and Grace make their way out, where they find a chopper waiting for them. Leon tells Sherry that he is bringing an antivirus for her as well.
  • Later, a news broadcast reveals that Emily was found in a cocoon inside the Bio-Terror Front of Rhodes Hill.
  • Fast-forward to the future, and we see Grace back on her desk with a photograph of her and Emily on the table.
  • At the very end, we see that someone had neutralized the BSAA agents in some facility and is retrieving a ‘package’. This would likely be the storyline for Resident Evil 10.

The good, or you can also call it the “true ending,” is canon, as it progresses the main storyline of Resident Evil, and it revitalizes Leon into action for the future. Key things to learn from the ending are that Elpis is now a clear cure for all bio-weapons made by Umbrella, and hopefully, it will be used to bring an end to all the infection.

We also learn that Grace is now acting as a parent for Emily and is back at her desk job in the FBI. Finally, Chris wanting to speak with Leon gives a clear indication that all the major protagonists will come together for the next mainline Resident Evil game, which is also being rumored as the finale to the massive franchise.
