Pokemon GO 8th Anniversary Party Event Guide

As the eventful month of Pokemon GO’s June roadmap draws to an end, we have another surprise! As it turns out, Niantic is celebrating the Pokemon GO 8th anniversary and having a party with it! This event will bring tons of various events, add new Pokemon, and even let you win fabulous apparel for your character. While the official Pokemon 8th anniversary party is a few days away, on June 28, we already have the details we need. So, if you plan to participate in the Pokemon 8th anniversary, let’s begin discussing it here.

Pokemon GO 8th Anniversary: Start Time and Bonuses

Players playing in the Pokemon GO 8th anniversary event will be getting a lot of bonuses they can take advantage of. If you are interested in playing in the 8th anniversary, you have to participate any time between June 28, 2024, 10 AM to July 3, 2024, 8:00 PM local time.

Between June 28 and July 3, players will be getting the following bonuses for participating in Pokemon GO’s 8th anniversary:

• Increased chance to become Lucky Friends.
• Increased chance to get Lucky Pokemon in trades.
• Friendship levels will increase faster if you do anything that affects your friendship levels.
• Increased chances to find eight or more Gimmighoul Coins after spinning a PokeStop with a Golden Lure Module.

Certain bonuses will be available on specific event days outside these four bonuses. Check them below:

• June 28 at 10 AM – June 29 at 11:59 PM: 1/2 Egg Hatch distance when placed in an incubator between these days. So you’ll hatch eggs quickly.
• June 30 at midnight – July 1 at 11:59 PM: 2x Catch XP.
• July 2 at midnight – July 3 at 8:00 PM: 2x Catch Stardust.

So, take advantage of these bonuses when you play Pokemon GO on the designated dates.

Pokemon GO 8th Anniversary Party: Featured Pokemon

Of course, if we are celebrating Pokemon GO’s 8th anniversary, there will naturally be some amazing Pokemon encounters. Let’s look at all the Pokemon making their way to us during the 8th anniversary party!

Pokemon Anniversary Featured Pokemon

The Pokemon GO 8th Anniversary event also brings two new Pokemon encounters for the first time in the game. They are:

• Grimer and Shiny Grimer, who is wearing a party hat.
• Muk, who is wearing a party hat.

These two Pokemon will join the game for the first time in this event, and Meltan and Shiny Meltan will make a trio of featured Pokemon. You can catch them anytime throughout the event.

Wild Encounters

During the event, you can encounter the following Pokemon more frequently in the wild. However, depending on the dates, the Pokemon GO 8th anniversary encounters will also vary. These are:

• Bulbasaur wearing a party hat and its shiny variant
• Charmander, who is wearing a party hat and its shiny variant
• Squirtle wearing a party hat, and its shiny variant
• Pikachu wearing a cake hat and its shiny variant
• Grimer wearing a party hat and its shiny variant
• Eevee wearing a party hat and its shiny variant
• Sprigatito
• Fuecoco
• Quaxly
• Alolan Grimer and its shiny variant

June 28 at 10 AM – June 29 at 11:59 PM local time

• Chikorita and its shiny variant
• Cyndaquil and its shiny variant
• Totodile and its shiny variant
• Treecko and its shiny variant
• Torchic and its shiny variant
• Mudkip and its shiny variant

June 30 at 12 AM – July 1 at 11:59 PM local time

Pokemon GO Raid Additions

Five new Pokemon will join the 1-star raids in Pokemon GO as part of the 8th-anniversary event. They are:

• Bulbasaur wearing a party hat and its shiny variant
• Charmander, who is wearing a party hat and its shiny variant
• Squirtle, who is wearing a party hat and its shiny variant
• Pikachu wearing a cake hat and its shiny variant
• Grimer wearing a party hat and its shiny variant

Pokemon GO 8th Anniversary Party: Field and Timed Research

Like any event, this one will feature two pieces of research for players to enjoy. The first one is a timed research. You can complete the timed study and get yourself rewarded with the following:

• XP points
• Stardust
• Encounter with Raticate wearing a party hat, Nidorino wearing a party hat, Wobbuffet wearing a party hat, and Meltan.

There will also be a paid timed research. For $2, you can purchase and play through the timed research within the duration of the event. This will give you a chance of getting the following items:

• 1 Incubator
• 1 Super Incubator
• 1 Premium Battle Pass
• 1 Lucky Egg
• 1 Rocket Radar
• 1 Star Piece
• 1 Incense
• 1 Poffin
• 88,888 XP
• An encounter with Meltan

There will also be a masterwork research story named Whispers in the Wood, which you can buy for $5 and complete. Remember that this is only available for players who haven’t played the Distracted by Something Shiny Special Research story.

Additionally, you’ll get a chance to purchase a special Anniversary Box for $4.99, getting you the following items:
