OPM fans were hugely excited as One Punch Man season 3 was already on the horizon. Well, now, we have one more thing to celebrate as a new piece of news came in today. In 2022, Sony Pictures Entertainment announced a live-action movie adaptation of One Punch Man by ONE and Yusuke Murata. While the movie is still in production, new writers have been hired to rewrite the script.
Sony’s recent announcement revealed that Justin Lin, the mastermind behind the Fast and Furious movies, would be helming the One Punch Man live-action movie as the director.
Alongside Lin, Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner (known for Venom) were hired to pen the script earlier. As per a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, Dan Harmon (the co-creator of Rick and Morty) and Heather Anne Campbell (known for Whose Line Is It Anyway?) have been brought in to completely rewrite the script of the live-action movie.
I have been a long-time fan of the Rick and Morty series, and I can assure you that this is a jackpot move by Sony. One Punch Man is a tailor-made material to play with for Dan Harmon. Along with Campbell, I hope they can bring the best out of the source material and make it suitable for the live-action medium.
Stay tuned for more updates in the coming months. That said, do let us know your thoughts about these new writers joining the team.
