One Piece fans have been dying to meet Loki as the flamboyant prince of the Elbaf nation, but Oda twisted the narrative and introduced him as the ‘Shame of Elbaf.’ The accursed prince killed his father for a devil fruit and was disowned by the people of Elbaf. After Shanks defeated him and handed him over to the giants, Loki remained chained in the Underworld. He dwelled in solitude in the realm of the dead for a long time until he met a friend named ‘Mosa aka Shaggy’ through a Den Den Mushi.

Loki’s cryptic exchanges with Mosa have intrigued us to uncover Mosa’s true identity in One Piece. At the time of writing, Oda hasn’t revealed anything about Mosa in the story. Well, that has pushed us forward to solve Mosa’s mystery by coming up with new theories.
Who Could Be Mosa in One Piece?
Based on Loki‘s conversation, the appearance of Mosa’s Den Den Mushi, and the literary meaning behind Mosa, we have narrowed down a list of suspects:
1. Elder Jarul

You may wonder why we have the giant old man here first; it has to do with the ‘Mosa’ title. We don’t know whether Mosa is a nickname or the actual name of Loki’s friend. However, the word mosamosa in Japanese translates to fully bearded or covered in beard. In addition, the Den Den Mushi with which Loki was talking to Mosa appeared to be sporting a thick beard. So, this clue led us to find a heavily bearded man, who is none other than Elder Jarul.
Elder Jarul being Mosa makes a lot of sense as the hero of the giants might have been King Harald’s most trusted aide back then. Thus, naturally, Jarul might have been taking care of Prince Loki since the latter’s birth. It is then heavily implied that Loki has been framed for his father’s murder, as the prince recently questioned all of his allies whether they believed that lie.
So it is highly likely that Loki accepts the blame to preserve his father’s legacy. In light of that event, Elder Jarul must have remained in touch with him, as every other giant despises him. Loki’s most recent conversation hints that Jarul will face the demon versions of Dorry and Brogy, and that is why they might not be able to talk again for a while. While this theory has the highest chance of becoming a reality, there are contradicting factors, such as Loki claiming he hasn’t seen or met Mosa ever before in his life.
2. Ida

We have one more contender for who Ida is with the introduction of Ida in One Piece chapter 1153. Ida is the giant woman whom King Harald fell in love with. Together, they had Hajrudin, but the elders disapproved of both Ida and her child, as they did not have the ancient blood in them. In the very same chapter, Oda introduced Estrid, who is the most hated mother in One Piece right now.
She attempted to kill Loki right from the moment he stepped into this world, and shortly passed away after the birth. Thus, a mother’s love was something Loki never knew in his life. On the other side, Ida encouraged her son, Hajrudin, to stand by his stepbrother. So, there is a chance that Loki could have experienced the warmth of a mother’s love with Ida and continued to stay in touch with her.
While this sounds like a great idea, we don’t know if Ida is still alive in the series, as good parental figures in One Piece always meet a tragic end.
3. Princess Shirahoshi

There is another popular theory circulating among the One Piece communities, which is that Princess Shirahoshi is Mosa theory. Many believe that Mosa could be Shirahoshi based on the way Mosa talks with Loki. We are aware that Loki and Shirahoshi, the prince and the princess duo, will play a vital role in the final war. The ancient mural in Elbaf also hinted at their roles.
A redditor gathered some solid proof to back this theory. Not all One Piece fans are on board with this theory, as there are facts such as Shirahoshi being imprisoned before contradicting the claim. We learned that Shirahoshi endured mistreatment and was abused during the last Reverie at Marie Geoise. Could that be the case that Loki was talking about with her, and Loki declared that he would destroy that place?
King Harald has also been to Fishman Island before. So will the prince of Elbaf end up with the princess of the Fishman kingdom after getting his heart broken by Charlotte Lola?
4. Unknown Celestial Dragon

We all know how Loki was left heartbroken when the girl he loved, Charlotte Lola, cancelled the marriage to marry someone else. Now, Mosa, aka Shaggy, may be Loki’s second chance at love again, as only Mosa has revealed the empathetic side of the prince. In the recent chapter, Mosa remarked that they often found their conversations very relaxing and wouldn’t give them up for anything else.
Mosa talks as if their place is in a state of turmoil, and the only other place that is in chaos right now is the Holy Land, Mary Geoise. So, could Oda be penning a love story between Loki and an unknown celestial dragon living in the Holy Land? This idea may seem a bit far-fetched, but fans would love to see Loki get his deserved partner in the series.
That’s the two possibilities we know based on the details we noticed in recent chapters so far. Mosa could be a character we have already met, or Oda can use this chance to introduce a new character in the Elbaf arc. Based on just the word Mosa, we couldn’t reach a conclusion about Mosa’s gender as well. So, Mosa continues to be an enigmatic character at the moment. In the meantime, who do you think Mosa is?
