What Is Sword Organization in One Piece?

We have seen our fair share of special forces in other fictional works, and the One Piece series has one in the form of the SWORD organization. It has been assembled by Marine officers who left the Marine organization, yet they continue to work under their name. That’s why ex-Admiral Aokiji stated, “the SWORD members are Marines, but they are not at the same time.”
These officers have already handed in their resignations, but they remain part of the Marines and operate freely without requiring authorization from higher officials. So, what do the Marines think of them? They hold no responsibility for the actions of SWORD members and will sever ties with them when the situation arises, in essence.
All SWORD Members in One Piece
Now that you know about the SWORD organization, it’s time to meet its members:
1. Koby

Koby has come a long way from being a frightened kid who met Luffy on a pirate ship to one of the Captains in the One Piece Marines. He was trained by the former Hero of the Marines, Monkey D. Garp. Thus, following the Rocky Port Incident involving him, Blackbeard, and Trafalgar Law, Koby was called the “Hero” just like his mentor.
Even though X Drake is currently the captain of the SWORD, we are sure Koby will become the face of the organization, as Oda confirmed Koby as one of the important characters in the final war. Koby is expected to become the future leader of the Marines and will hopefully have a great future ahead.
2. X Drake

X Drake, introduced as one of the Worst Generation Pirates, turned out to be a Marine undercover all along. Though he was raised a pirate by his abusive father, fortunately, Sengoku took him in and made him a Rear Admiral of the Marines. Then, Drake eventually went on to become the captain of the SWORD organization in One Piece.
During this time, he infiltrated Kaido’s Beast Pirates to sabotage the ex-Yonko. While he couldn’t complete his mission, Drake is one of the strongest pirates with the powers of the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Allosaurus devil fruit. It will be exciting to see how he will team up with Koby and lead the SWORD organization to glory.
3. Helmeppo

Remember when Helmeppo used to be the conceited son of Axe-hand Morgan. Luckily, he crossed paths with Luffy and Koby and redeemed himself in the story. Helmeppo also joined the Marines and remained with Koby as they climbed the Marine ladder.
Helmeppo is currently a Lieutenant Commander of the Marines and joined the SWORD organization following Koby’s footsteps. Since Helmeppo is also one of Garp’s students, we can place our hopes on him to achieve a big win for the SWORD organisation someday.
4. Hibari

Hibari is one of the newly introduced marine characters and is confirmed to be a member of the SWORD organization. She is the sniper of this organisation, and in fact, she is the only sniper we have seen on the Marines’ side since the beginning of the series. Hibari is proficient in Armament and Observation haki, making her an all-around sniper warrior.
It’s clear that she is romantically interested in Koby, as evidenced by her temperament when she is around him. Hibari is also expected to be Akainu’s daughter as they have the same blood type and share the same dialect, according to Oda. Now, if that happens, it’s going to be interesting to see Akainu’s daughter fighting for justice by representing the SWORD.
5. Prince Grus

We have another Rear Admiral who swore his loyalty to SWORD, Prince Grus, the rich kiddo who joined the Marines recently. Grus made his debut in the Koby rescue mission during the Egghead arc, where he impressed the fans with his Gunyo Gunyo no Mi devil fruit powers.
We don’t know much about Grus at the moment, but we expect much more from him as he is set up to be Koby’s rival inside this organization.
6. Kujaku

Remember Vice Admiral Tsuru? She used to be a great Marine figure alongside Garp and Sengoku in the Roger era and was one of the best female characters in One Piece. Now, her granddaughter, Kujaku, has made her debut and is striving towards greatness like her grandmother. She is also one of the Rear Admirals who switched sides to the SWORD organization.
Kujaku has quite a manipulative power in her hands as she ate the Muchi Muchi no Mi devil fruit and is also well-versed in Armament and Observation haki. As a result, fans are interested in seeing more of her appearances and powers in the series.
Unconfirmed SWORD Members

The above six characters are only confirmed and active members in the SWORD organization. But Monkey D. Garp, Tashigi, and Bogard have also been spotted aligning with this special and secret organization.
Moreover, Aokiji, aka Kuzan, who joined the Blackbeard Pirates after resigning as an Admiral, is also theorized to be a SWORD member. Theories suggest that he must have become a member of the Blackbeard Pirates as an undercover agent. But we have to wait a bit more time to find out the goal of this organization.
