- Oda drew a silhouette of God's Knights in Chapter 1083 that included several knights. The man in the middle drew the fans' attention for having a striking similarity to Shanks.
- One Piece Chapter 1121's final double spread panel features a similar silhouette, who is said to be in the race to find the fabled treasure of One Piece.
- The panel showed a man with a strikingly similar sword to Shanks' Gryphon sword. Fan theories about Shanks's evil twin have gained traction as a result.
The One Piece community starts churning out good-old theories whenever Oda sensei teases a new mystery in the story. If you have been reading these theories for years like me, you must have been aware of the Shanks twin brother theory. One Piece chapter 1083 first hinted at this theory turning into a reality, and now, chapter 1121 has added fuel to this wild theory with another new character tease in the final panel.
Oda Teases a New Character in One Piece Chapter 1121
The Holy Knights, aka the God’s Knights, are those with a higher rank than the Marines (read about the Marine ranking system here) and were introduced in Chapter 1054 for the first time. Then, after around 30 chapters, Oda decided to tease the fans with a silhouette of the Holy Knights as Monkey D. Dragon talked about how their battle against them would start soon.
The silhouette featured several knights but what caught everyone’s eye was the person in the center, who had an uncanny resemblance to everyone’s favorite pirate — Akagami Shanks. This has the One Piece community in a delirious state right now. Let’s dig further into the Shanks twin theory.
If you aren’t aware of Shanks’ origin, he was found in a treasure chest by Roger after the infamous God Valley incident. This fact about shanks is often forgotten by many.
Furthermore, this information hinted at Shanks being a member of the Figarland family as St. Figarland Garling was present during the incident and considered the champion of God Valley. He is speculated to have been a relative of Shanks for a long time as well.
So, when we put two and two together, fans started speculating that Shanks is the twin brother who was lost and found by Roger. So, there is the other twin who was raised as a Celestial Dragon. As his father or grandfather, Garling, was the Supreme Commander, he must have been trained to join the Holy Knights.
Well, think about the time Shanks visited the Five Elders; it would make perfect sense if it was his evil twin.
The epic final double spread in One Piece Chapter 1121 unveiled the stars, who are the forerunners in the race to obtain the legendary treasure that is One Piece.
Among them, a familiar silhouette of a man with a sword identical to Shanks’ Gryphon sword was seen. This sent the fandom into a frenzy, thereby adding fuel to the theory of Shanks’ twin brother. That said, nothing has been confirmed by Oda sensei at the moment.
It could also be the man marked by flames or the man with the pirate eyepatch Oda has already mentioned in the past. However, we will have to wait before we find out who this person is. That said, who do you think this character is? Let us know in the comments below.
