One Piece Chapter 1156: Meet the Pirate Empress Who Stunned Even the Strongest Pirates

Shakuyaku, more popularly known as Shakky, was introduced as a retired pirate who works as a bartender in the Sabaody Archipelago arc. We were not aware of the true origins of Shakuyaku at that point in the story. Shakky was revealed to be the former empress of Amazon Lily (two generations ago) and also the former captain of the Kuja Pirates before Boa Hancock. This unexpected reveal made Shakky’s character a lot more interesting to follow. We have always wondered what Shakky was like in her prime, and now we can finally witness as Oda sensei unravels Shakky’s pirate days in One Piece chapter 1156.

Spoiler Warning:

This article contains spoilers about the Roger and Kuja pirates in One Piece. Make sure to read the latest One Piece chapter 1156 before to avoid ruining your intended experience.

During the pre-Roger era, the Kuja Pirates, led by Gloriosa, were one of the most active pirate crews. With the beauty, brains, and brawn, the Kuja Pirates were taking the world by storm like an idol group. Gloriosa’s stardom reached every island across the seas, but even the captain’s fame couldn’t overshadow Shakky’s charm. Yes! Shakky is now confirmed to be the first mate of Gloriosa, and she was more popular than her captain at that time.

Shakky was extremely popular to the level that the Roger Pirates aimed to seize Shakky. Strength meant nothing when the strongest pirates met with her timeless beauty. So when Roger and Scopper Gaban tried to capture her, Shakky defeated the love-struck pirates with ease. Shakuyaku was a free-spirited soul; every move she made was graceful and commanded great attention.

Even when Gloriosa was clearly head over heels for Roger, the Pirate King didn’t bat an eye at her and kept swooning over her first mate, Shakky. Similar to Boa Hancock, Shakky developed feelings for Rayleigh, the only man who didn’t fall under her enchanting spell.

Soon after this incident, Shakuyaku earned the title of Pirate Empress from Gloriosa and eventually became the captain of the Kuja Pirates. When legendary pirates were wreaking chaos everywhere in their wild youth, Shakky made them bow before her beauty. Even the former pirate king was no exception, as Roger was smitten all over Shakuyaku.

I didn’t expect Roger of all to be the first in line to swoon over the former pirate empress in his youth. But it was delightful to watch these fearsome pirates falling for Shakuyaku in One Piece chapter 1156. That said, what do you think about Shakuyaku’s character now in the story?
