  • Japanese Name: Rokkusu Kaizokudan
  • Debut: Anime Episode 958 & Manga Chapter 957
  • Captain: Rocks D. Xebec
  • Ship: Unnamed Ship
  • Total BountyUnknown

More details about the strongest pirate crew of the previous generation were only recently revealed in the Wano Country arc. Oda cleverly kept information about this monstrous crew hidden for years.

Rocks Pirates was born when certain menacing individuals gathered together at Hachinosu Island and decided to join hands due to their shared desire for fame and wealth. Rocks D. Xebec led this legendary crew, which was star-studded, and included the likes of Whitebeard, Big Mom, Kaido, and a host of other incredible pirates.

Every single crew member went on to earn a title and fabled status for them after they disbanded. Together, they were deemed the most notorious crew in history. Before Gol D. Roger became the Pirate King, the Rocks Pirates were the biggest hurdle in his path. So, let’s take a look at the crew members, starting with the leader himself.

1. Rocks D. Xebec

Though he was introduced quite late in the story, Rocks D. Xebec became one of the key characters in the One Piece universe after his debut. He was the captain of the Rocks Pirates and Roger’s main rival, as beating him would enable him to become the Pirate King later in his life.

Though we don’t know anything much about this individual, we don’t doubt if more details become available, he will rise to the top of our list of the strongest Haki users.

During the God Valley Incident, the combined efforts of Roger and Garp were required to defeat this guy. We only know that Rocks wanted to become the King of the world, as revealed by Sengoku. We can’t wait to learn more about him since he was a frightening pirate in the past.

2. Edward Newgate (Whitebeard)

Next to Rocks, we have Whitebeard who was a part of the Rocks Pirates for a brief period. As we saw in a flashback during the Marineford arc, Whitebeard was a member of a small crew. From there, he made his way into this monstrous pirate crew before creating his pirate crew called the Whitebeard Pirates.

During his time in the crew, it is more than likely that he was next in command to Captain Rocks. As seen in chapter 1096, he wasn’t afraid of his captain as he called him a “fool” multiple times.

Whitebeard was concentrating only on missions as Rocks was seen similar to how Luffy would react. He seemed to be the only rational member and started a new journey once the crew disbanded after they were utterly defeated on God Valley Island.

3. Kaidou

At the end of the Wano Country arc (one of the best arcs in One Piece), we see a glimpse of Kaidou at his young age. In one such instance, Whitebeard, who was on the same island as him invited him to become an apprentice of the Rocks Pirates.

Then began Kaidou’s career as a pirate, and that’s when he met his friend Big Mom as well. Chapter 1096 confirmed that Big Mom stole the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu, which was regarded as one of the strongest devil fruits in the world. It was later given to Kaido, and as a result, he owes her a life debt for this gift.

As he was an apprentice, you can pretty much guess his role in this legendary crew. However, more importantly, Kaido learned everything about being a pirate, got himself an OP devil fruit, and rose to become the strongest creature in the world.

4. Charlotte Linlin (Big Mom)

The Rocks Pirates had many female members, and Charlotte Linlin stood tall as their vital member. After her terrifying childhood, she quickly became a notorious pirate at a young age. It is mentioned that Big Mom became a member of the Rocks Pirates when she was 24 years old.

Six years later, the God Valley incident took place, and she played a major role in this battle. Since Big Mom already had her powers, her homies – Napolean and Prometheus – can be called members of the Rocks as well.

Furthermore, she secured the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu from Ivankov who was about to consume it. That single action changed the entire course of history, as witnessed in the events of Wano. This is the same place where she parted ways with the Rocks crew. She served the crew for more than 6 years and went on to start her crew called Big Mom Pirates at the age of 35.

5. Shiki

We never saw Golden Lion Shiki in the manga until his appearance in chapter 1096. Fans were in joy to see this character as a member of the infamous Rocks Pirates. It is mentioned that he joined the crew 40 years ago and participated in the God Valley Incident.

It is also observed that he already had Fuwa Fuwa no Mi’s powers, as he mentioned in chapter 1096. Shiki was not much of a friendly member and was the opposite of that as he was seen arguing with everyone.

Like the other members, Shiki also used his time on this crew to gain experience and created the Golden Lion Pirates after disbandment. This is the same crew we saw in One Piece Film: Strong World, one of the best One Piece movies. We expect to see more of him in upcoming chapters.

6. John

One of the members we got to see earlier even before we knew he was a part of the Rocks Pirates is Captain John. I bet you can remember the drunkard zombie back in the Thriller Bark arc. John was a member of the Rocks Pirates but a specific time period is never been mentioned.

John also took part in the God Valley Incident as he was seen mentioning that he wanted to get the prizes as a part of his treasure. For those who don’t know, he has left a huge treasure (opposite to Roger’s as it was left after the mutiny), and Buggy has heavily sought this.

After the crew’s breakup, he started his crew and led them as their captain. But that didn’t last long as his abhorrent personality resulted in mutiny inside his crew, which ultimately led to his death in One Piece.

Eventually, Dr. Hogback revived him as a zombie and we saw his zombie version and his powers in the Thriller Bark arc. I think we are on the right path to learning more about his character and the treasure he left very soon.

7. Buckingham Stussy

It was predicted earlier that Miss Buckingham Stussy used to be a member of the Rocks Pirates. It was rightly so, as she served as a member for a brief period before becoming a scientist with MADS. This is also the time when she was seen with Whitebeard and heavily rumored that they ended up together, which resulted in the birth of Edward Weevil.

You may wonder why I attached a photo of CP0 agent Stussy instead of Miss Buckins. It is because Stussy was a clone created out of Miss Buckins and her young appearance in the manga is the same as that of the young clone’s appearance.

Also, it seems Stussy had a specific goal in mind before joining the God Valley Incident. It was never discussed widely and may be addressed in the future. There are many mysteries around Stussy and her relationship.

8. Gloriosa

Remember this old lady from the Amazon Lily? She was called the “Elder Nyon” on that island. Out of all the surprising reveals, the fact that she was also a member of the Rocks Pirates absolutely blew every fan’s mind.

One should note that she was the Pirate Empress of the Kuja tribe, nearly three generations before Boa Hancock’s reign. During her reign, she left her throne for a man as she fell in love with him. Eventually, she escaped from the island and joined the Rocks Pirates.

Most fans predict that she fell in love with Captain Rocks D. Xebec himself. But there are also many wild theories claiming she was in love with Kaidou. We don’t know anything for sure but seeing her here was a big surprise. More about her powers and connections is expected to be revealed soon.

9. Streusen

Another surprising member of the crew was revealed to be Streusen. If you don’t remember this tiny man, I get it, because I almost forgot him too. In the Whole Cake Island, it was revealed that he was one of the founding partners of the Big Mom Pirates and served as its executive chef.

As you might be aware, he teamed up with Big Mom when she was just 6 years old. That journey led to him becoming a member of the Rocks Pirates when Charlotte Linlin became a part of the crew.

He is an expert chef and also a swordsman, thus, he likely served as both for the Rocks Pirates. Also, he must have been a valuable member of the crew as he continued his pirate journey with Big Mom.

10. Ochoku

From now onwards, we don’t have images of the remaining members, and there is little information known about them.

First up, Ochoku was a part of the big event before we learned about Rock’s history. We know about the famous Rocky Port incident involving Blackbeard, Koby, etc. We do not know Ochoku’s gender, a question that many bring up, but we do know that they were the former ruler of Hachinosu Island before Blackbeard snatched that title away from them.

Although we don’t know much about them, Sengoku revealed in a flashback that they are a popular pirate, worthy of mention in the same vein as his crewmates, namely Captain John, Shiki, etc.

11. Unknown Members

There are several Rocks Pirates members, such as Silver Axe, whose names have been revealed but not much information is available for them. Additionally, there are images of new members whose names or details are not revealed as of now. We will update this post once we get more information.

We waited many years to learn the truth behind the monstrous Rocks pirates, and now, we get the chance to slowly about each crew member. As of now, the God Valley Incident flashback will likely be put on hold as the story is focusing on Kuma and his backstpory. Nevertheless, we will get to see more of these pirates very soon.
