One Piece Chapter 1143: Oda Fuels Speculations That ELbaf’s Loki Might Not Be a Villain

Be it Loki from One Piece, Marvel Comics, or even Norse mythology, the God of Mischief continues to be mysterious as fans cannot figure out the true nature of their character. Since his introduction, Loki has been branded as a wicked giant who should be kept out of reach. While Oda continues to paint Loki as the main villain of Elbaf through the accounts of other giants, the creator has also been dropping clues about his innocence. One Piece Chapter 1143 ends on a massive cliffhanger as Loki finally breaks the silence about his father, King Harald’s death.

Since the Elbaf arc begins on a celebratory note, we didn’t expect Loki to shape up as the ongoing arc’s villain. Fans who had been waiting to meet the One Piece version of Loki were left speechless when they learned that Loki killed his father, King Harald, to obtain a legendary devil fruit.

Moreover, the people of Elbaf went on and on about stories of Loki being a devious and heartless giant since the arrival of the Straw Hats Pirates on the island. Hence, Loki’s early impressions were not positive, which is something we didn’t expect to happen.

But the question of whether Loki is the shame of Elbaf or not lingers as King Harald’s character continues to be a mystery like his son. Now getting back to the present situation, Loki succumbs to his injuries made by Shamrock and Gunko earlier. Thankfully, Gerd is treating his severe wounds in the underworld.

At this moment, Hajrudin can’t help but think of how Loki treated him during their childhood. So, Hajrudin tries to end his stepbrother’s life axe but Loki surprises everyone by challenging the truth of his father’s death. Loki remarks that everyone is so caught up in their personal drama and not a single soul is acknowledging the truth in front of their eyes.

Loki then asks Hajrudin whether his brother believes that he had mercilessly slain their father 14 years ago. Now Loki’s questioning his brother once again sparks uncertainty about what we have been told by the other giants. Either Loki was framed for his father’s death, or he killed him for a very strong reason which again suggests that King Harald could have been a puppet of the World Government.

I believe it’s the former case where either Elder Jarul or the real traitor giant successfully executed the King according to the World Government’s wishes and blamed it on his son. Everyone believes the giants’ prophecy has come true but we are missing a major piece of the narrative. I’m on Luffy’s side and if our captain believes Loki is a good character, then he will be one.

Oda continues to tease Loki’s redemption and the truth will be revealed pretty soon in the Elbaf arc. Until then, let us know your theories about Loki being an ally in the comments below.
