Harald was the last known king of the giants who is said to have wisely ruled over the Elbaf island and forged relations with the rest of the world for the Giants. That’s why he continues to be revered as the greatest king of Elba. As one would expect, he was also the father of Hajurdin and Loki in the story.

While the giants are known for their might and ferocity, Harald was the first diplomatic king who preferred peace and uniting nations over waging wars. Moreover, King Harald also hails from the special race of giants called the Ancient Giants.

Loki, the accursed prince of Elbaf with snake eyes, was prophesied to take the life of his own father, King Harald. As it would turn true, the giants stated that Loki was the one who had slain his father in cold blood to obtain the legendary devil fruit of the royal family. Until now, it has been claimed that King Harald’s second son, the prince of Elbaf, was the one who killed him.

However, the flashback sequence has a different story to tell. As Loki and Elder Jarul visit the king after an expedition, we see the king’s loyal guards stabbing him with spears. Currently, we don’t know if it was an act of betrayal or if Imu converted those guards into their soldiers and then ordered them to slay their king.

What Devil Fruit Did King Harald Have?

King Harald is not confirmed to be a devil fruit user, at least not yet, in the ongoing backstory in the Elbaf arc. However, the royal family of Elbaf is known to have been passing down a legendary devil fruit for generations. We saw this devil fruit for the first time during the flashback sequence of King Harald getting stabbed by his soldiers, which was revealed recently in the One Piece manga.

With the Ancient Giants’ blood in his veins, King Harald was a force to be reckoned with. I mean, if Rocks D. Xebec came knocking at his door to recruit Harald to the legendary Rocks Pirates crew, the invitation alone is a testament to his might.

Throughout Loki’s backstory, Oda has been slowly disclosing the full extent of King Harald’s powers in One Piece.

As you are aware, the ancient giants are known to possess unmatched might, easily surpassing the strengths of the rest of the giants. So, King Harald was already a mighty warrior from such a young age. King Harald possessed strength so great, he could bring down nations on his own. That is why Imu and every other character consider the Giants as the strongest force of nature, and the ancient giants are a cut above the normal giants.

The recent One Piece chapter 1155 revealed that Harald was one of the strongest swordsmen of his time as he clashed with Rocks at the Holy Land. When these two legends collided with their swords, the sudden Conqueror’s Haki burst is said to have knocked down everyone within a five-kilometer radius. This moment also essentially confirmed that King Harald was one of the special beings who possessed the Conqueror’s Haki.

Rocks was impressed when Harald was able to jump off the Red Line to escape from the Holy Land. Thus, all in all, King Harald is setting up to be not just the strongest king we have met but also one of the strongest characters to ever live in the world of One Piece. Moreover, Harald’s relationship with Rocks mirrors Whitebeard’s to Roger.

Hence, we are excited to watch the remaining tale of King Harald unfold in the upcoming chapters. That said, let us know your impressions about King Harald so far in the comments below.
