Hachinosu is one of the islands located in the New World, and unlike the rest, it is considered to be the paradise of pirates around the world. Don Marlon, one of the members of the Rocks Pirates, stated that nations worldwide utilized this island to exile their most notorious criminals. Therefore, all the irredeemable and worst pirates across the globe were united here, and this island fittingly earned the title of “Pirate Island.”

Apart from being a haven for pirates, Hachinosu was home to many legendary pirate crews such as Rocks Pirates, Ochoku and his crew, and recently, Blackbeard seized the island, where his crew currently resides.

Hachinosu Island is said to have existed for a very long time, as it is the birthplace of the Davy Back Fight, the well-known traditional pirate game. Well, it is now revealed that Rocks brought back the Davy Back Fight and won the games to assemble his crew, which would go on to become the infamous Rocks Pirates. Rocks is the first person who took control of Hachinosu and made it his stronghold.

Shortly after Rocks’ defeat in God Valley, Wang Zhi aka Ochoku, who used to be a member of the Rocks Pirates, assumed control of the pirate island following his captain’s death. Years later, the Rocky Port incident happened during the time-skip period involving Trafalgar Law, Blackbeard, and Koby. For unknown reasons, Marshall D. Teach teamed up with Koby and removed Ochoku from power. Then, Blackbeard sat on the Hachinosu throne and declared it his own.

According to Whitebeard, Hachinosu used to be a lifeless island, where starvation was inevitable. That is the main reason why all the nations sent their criminals to this island, which is a graveyard in disguise. However, in a life-or-death situation, the pirates began to unite under a common cause and forged a way to survive.

But according to Ganzui, Hachinosu was a treasure trove of gold. He further stated that an unknown organization discovered the gold news. Together with the pirates stranded, they collected this gold and became rich over time, which provoked the World Government. From then on, the lifeless island transformed into a bustling hub for the pirates. Sometime in the past, pirates started to compete against each other in order to build a crew with the best members, which would go on to be called the Davy Back Fight, a pirate game.

Rocks came up with a plan to take advantage of the World Government’s ire regarding Hachinosu. He struck a deal with them to give the crew money in return for claiming the island and offering it back to them. But it’s Rocks we are talking about, of course, he plotted to break the deal behind the World Government’s back by taking control of Hachinosu island, and also getting the prize at the same time. We can look forward to how Rocks took control of Hachinosu in the upcoming chapters.

Blackbeard and His Goals

Following Rock’s death, his crewmate Ochoku declared ownership of the island. He continued to be the ruler of the pirate paradise until the Rocky Port incident. Blackbeard, Rocks D. Xebec’s son, forged a temporary alliance with Koby and Law to conquer the island from Ochoku. Since then, Blackbeard and his crew have been living on the pirate island.

Recently, we had a mini-saga with Garp coming to rescue Koby from the Hachinosu island. While the SWORD members were able to escape safely, Garp was caught by his protege, Aokiji. With a new trump card, Blackbeard was seen planning to transform this lawless pirate island into a nation allied with the World Government. He also has a title ready for the nation, “Blackbeard Kingdom.” We believe Blackbeard’s goal has something to do with his father’s ambition, as he aimed to become the king of the world.

And that’s a wrap for everything we know about Hachinosu the Pirate Island so far in One Piece. As we make steady progress in the final saga, the significance of this island grows stronger with each arc.
