Minecraft updates evolved after the live event last year. The days of massive annual releases are now over, and we are expected not to get the 1.22 update anytime soon. Instead, players now get to enjoy frequent but smaller Minecraft game drops, similar to the one that introduced the Pale Garden and the Creaking. Although Mojang hasn’t released any specific date for the next drop, we do have some information about what’s coming next, thanks to Minecraft snapshots. So with that, let’s take a look at when the next Minecraft update is potentially releasing, along with its features, and more!
Next Minecraft Update Release Date
The internet is chock-full of rumors about the release date of the next Minecraft update. Well, we did our own digging by studying the trend of the last big Winter Drop in December 2024.
As such, the next Minecraft drop is expected to be released by late February or early March 2025. However, according to some rumors, the release could be even earlier.
The Winter Drop introduced the Pale Garden biome, Creaking mob, Resins, Eyeblossom flowers, and several new features into the game. Moreover, we were able to try out these features ahead of release from the snapshots, previews, and pre-releases.
Next Minecraft Update Name
Mojang has a fun way of introducing Minecraft drops by giving them cool names. The latest Garden Awakens update was themed around the new Pale Garden biome and the Creaking. Sadly, there is still no news on what the name of the next Minecraft game drop will be. However, we have noticed a trend. As regular crafters can tell, Minecraft 1.21.60 has been foreshadowed by a plethora of animal variant releases.
The recent Minecraft snapshots introduced us to new mob variants, including pigs, cows, chickens, and new flowers, including Wildflowers and Cactus flowers, two new types of dry grasses, and even the canceled mob, Fireflies. If that continues, we might get to see more rejected ‘mob vote’ mobs in the game.
As it goes, the next Minecraft 1.21.60 update name might be something akin to Farmyard Friends or Pasture and Pens. In my opinion, I would be the most excited if Mojang added Copper Golems to the game.
Minecraft 1.21.60 Update Features
As discussed earlier, Mojang has changed the way Minecraft releases updates. While game drops are supposed to be smaller releases, Minecraft 1.21.60 is a big surprise. That’s because it is just full of new features and upgrades to existing features.
As you read above, we have been introduced to the new variants of some of the oldest mobs in the game — pigs, cows, chickens, two new flowers — Wildflowers and Cactus flowers, new types of dry grasses, Firefly bushes, leaf litter, and falling leaves animation so far. Apart from these, I believe the next update will most likely include new environmental changes and new additions to the ambiance thereby, enhancing our gaming experience.
