One of the most intelligent characters we will follow from the beginning of the MHA series is Momo Yaoyorozu. There was something special about this character, especially due to the quirk she possessed in the story. Momo’s quirk, Creation, is one of the overpowered quirks in My Hero Academia, and so it is quite complex by nature. Hence, it is easy for anyone to get perplexed while trying to understand Momo’s quirk. But I’ve got your back now with a clear-cut explainer of Momo Yaoyorozu’s quirk in MHA, including its advantages and weaknesses, here.
Spoiler Warning:
This article contains spoiler about Momo Yaoyorozu’s quirk. Proceed with caution.
What Is Momo’s Quirk in My Hero Academia?

Momo Yaoyorozu’s quirk in the My Hero Academia series is “Creation.” As the quirk’s name suggests, Momo is bestowed with the ability to create things out of her body. All the materials she produces don’t always have to be a copy of a material, as she has the power to alter its molecular structure to come up with an original creation with her desired properties. Therefore, the creation is indeed a versatile quirk that helps in all situations, whether it’s an offensive or defensive duty.
The creation quirk also gets very complex as you have to look at it from a scientific angle, focusing on material and body science. But let me explain it to you in simple terms. Momo has the power to create non-living objects as well as organic materials out of her body.
However, Momo needs to know the entire molecular structure of the object she seeks to produce beforehand in order to envision and materialize it. Once she got it correct, the energy needed to generate the materials is her own fat cells. She then converts her fat cells into the required object.
Weaknesses of Creation Quirk

The description of the creation quirk sounds like Momo is like a goddess in the MHA series who has the power to create. But it does come with its reasonable limitations that prevent her from becoming a broken character. They are as follows:
- Momo needs to eat regularly and readily keep adequate body cells to create things.
- Then, she needs to have an immense knowledge of molecular science, especially about the things she wishes to create.
- The time of production is directly proportional to the size of the object. Additionally, the complex molecular structure of an object also delays the production time.
- Rapid consumption of the fat cells might lead to Momo becoming weak.
- Momo can’t reproduce living things.
Creation Quirk Was Underutilized in MHA

We have got an overpowered quirk bestowed upon a smart character in the MHA series, yet the author didn’t utilize her character to the fullest potential. Similar to other popular shonen series where the supporting characters get sidelined, take Rock Lee from Naruto, for example. Momo ends up the same way as the author began to focus only on the main characters of the MHA series.
We go to see Momo unleashing her creation quirk only several times in the MHA series, and most of its potential was left untapped by the creator, sadly. Initially, Horikoshi sensei wanted to give this quirk to a Pro Hero, but decided to give it to Momo, a rising hero in the story. So, it is disappointing to see the way this quirk’s utilisation turned out to be in My Hero Academia.
That said, do you think Momo’s quirk was perfectly used in MHA? Let us know in the comments below.
