The final season of My Hero Academia was the most anticipated anime release of 2025, as we had to bid farewell to one of modern shonen’s greats. Izuku has come a long way from being a quirkless kid, and not everyone was ready to say goodbye to our favorite hero. But the final season arrived, and guess what, it delivered beyond our wildest expectations. Every new episode airing weekly was a celebration for MHA fans, and now the final season has broken many records, not just in MHA history but in the entire history of anime.
My Hero Academia Final Season Episodes Ratings Dominate 2025 IMDb Anime Charts

When it comes to the final season of any series, the expectations are sky-high. Many shonen anime have fumbled in adapting the ending in the past. So the pressure on Bones Films, the studios in charge of MHA, to deliver a perfect finale has never been higher, as MHA is one of the best shonen in modern times. But Bones Films kept their cool and knocked it out of the park with remarkable episodes every week.
The final season of My Hero Academia opened up with the most-awaited Armored All Might vs. All For One, which was engrossing on screen. Then, Bakugo’s resurrection was followed by him obliterating AFO to ashes, which was easily the best animated fight we have ever seen in the MHA series. Lastly, it all came to the final battle: Deku vs. Tomura and AFO. The weight of the fans was on Bones’ shoulders, just like the weight of the entire world on Izuku’s shoulders.
The result? Another phenomenal and faithful adaptation of the final battle, where Izuku’s victory was palpable on screen. Bones didn’t slack off with the epilogue chapters as the studios continued to maintain consistent animation quality in the final moments.
It goes without saying that, with extraordinary voice acting performances, breathtaking animation quality, and an amazing background score, the final episodes retained the spirit of the manga and delivered an exhilarating experience that was even better than the source material. Therefore, the IMDb ratings of all the episodes of My Hero Academia’s final season deservedly got a rating of only 9 or higher, which is a new record for a shonen anime.
My Hero Academia Final Season’s MyAnimeList Ratings Declare it the Highest-Rated Shonen Anime of the Year

If you are an MHA manga reader, then you might be aware of the controversy during the finale. Not everyone loved the rushed ending, leaving only a few celebrating the final moments. However, that’s not the case with the ending of the MHA anime. Bones Films hired many industry legends and new animators to meticulously craft every frame with care, resulting in all the episodes being lauded by the MHA fandom every week, as it resonated well with the audience.
The IMDb ratings of the episodes of MHA’s final season are a testament to that. In addition to this record, My Hero Academia’s final season currently also holds an 8.86 score in MAL. This automatically makes MHA’s final season the highest-rated shonen anime of 2025, beating terrific titles, such as Solo Leveling Season 2, Dandadan Season 2, Gachiakuta, and many more.

I have my own gripes with the way Horikoshi rushed the epilogue of My Hero Academia. Nevertheless, the author concluded his magnum opus superhero tale on a solid note. Looking back, I had a wonderful time watching the anime adaptation of the Final War and Epilogue arcs even after reading the manga beforehand.
It’s all thanks to Studio Bones Films, who have put an unbelievable amount of care and love into faithfully adapting the MHA finale. The studio deserves all the praise from the fandom for coming up with the best-ever finale adaptation. And the IMDb and MAL scores of My Hero Academia’s final season are undeniable proof that anime fans enjoyed the ending to the core.
As I said earlier, My Hero Academia is one of the modern big three shonen, along with Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer. It deserved a beautiful farewell, and Studio Bones gifted it to the fans without any sacrifices. That said, what do you think about the final season of My Hero Academia?
