Who Is Kirara Hoshi in JJK?
Kirara Hoshi is a third-year student at the Tokyo Jujutsu High and is one of the seniors of Yuji, Megumi, and many other sorcerers. In fact, they are the only other third-year student we know after Kinji Hakari. Kirara’s sorcerer grade remains unknown to this day, but she possesses one of the most complex cursed techniques in the JJK series’ history.
When their classmate, Kinji Hakari, was suspended for his assault of Jujutsu Higher Officials, Kirara moved away with him. Thus, Kirara lends Hakari a hand in successfully running the Gachinko Fight Club, an underground fight club in Tochigi Prefecture.
When Megumi and Yuji come to recruit Hakari, Kirara initially fights them. However, once everything is sorted out, Kirara agrees to help them from the outside and doesn’t participate in the Culling Game.
Are Kirara and Hakari a Couple?
Although the JJK manga has ended, author Gege Akutami never took the time to confirm the relationship status of Kinji Hakari and Kirara Hoshi in JJK. Therefore, it is only strongly implied that Kirara is Hakari’s girlfriend, and they are currently dating in the JJK series.
There are several moments, such as Hakari being close with Kirara on the couch, Kirara calling Hakari a sweet nickname, ‘Kin-chan,’ and getting annoyed when Hakari brought up his ex-girlfriend in a conversation.
All these moments heavily indicate that Kirara Hoshi is emotionally attached to Hakari. Therefore, we can definitely say that Hakari and Kirara are indeed a couple in Jujutsu Kaisen based on their chemistry and interactions.
Kirara Hoshi’s Gender: Is Kirara a Boy or Girl in JJK?
Gege Akutami hasn’t yet revealed or talked about Kirara Hoshi’s gender in Jujutsu Kaisen. However, JJK fans consider Kirara to be a ‘transwoman’ in the story. Kirara’s character sketch in junior year supports this theory. In the early design, they appear to be a man with a feminine appearance. Over the years, Kirara must have transitioned into a woman as we currently see them in JJK.
Even Panda once mentioned that Kirara was a man, which further hints that Kirara is a transwoman in JJK. Neither the character nor the author has further revealed anything about Kirara’s gender in the storyline.

Yuki Sakakihara is the Japanese voice actor of Kirara Hoshi in the Jujutsu Kaisen anime. He has previously lent his voice to characters such as Corpse God in Dead Mount Death Play, Jushi Aimono in Hypnosis Mic: Division Rap Battle series, Aiki Hirose in Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!!, and more.

What Is Kirara’s Ability in JJK?
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Kirara Hoshi has one of the most complex cursed techniques in the Jujutsu Kaisen series. However, it can be easily understood if we break it down and learn the technique step-by-step. Kirara’s innate CT is called “Love Rendezvous,” and is based on the smallest modern constellation, the Southern Cross constellation. Now, without confusing you, let me first say that it is a defensive cursed technique capable of manipulating distance.
There are five main stars in this constellation, and their correct order is as follows: Imai, Acrux, Mimosa, Ginan, and Gacrux. First, Kirara has to assign a star to her opponents by making contact with their respective cursed energy. Once the target has been marked with a star, the target must follow the order and plot their path to the next star in order.
If the target doesn’t follow the order and moves as they wish, then they will attract other targets who have the same star as them, like a magnet. Therefore, in order to reach Kirara in a battle, the target must assess the situation, figure out everyone’s stars, and make their way in the intended order. For example, if Kirara assigns you the star Imai, then you must follow the path of Acrux, Mimosa, and Ginan to reach Gacrux.
Kirara mainly used the Love Rendezvous technique to keep enemies out of her boyfriend’s way from running a successful fight club. However, when Megumi came to rescue Hakari, he brilliantly figured out Kirara’s CT in their battle.
