IShowSpeed and Kai Cenat have done it again; they managed to beat Minecraft after roughly 5 days of sleep-deprived chaos. The duo began their second Minecraft Hardcore marathon on August 7, aiming to defeat all four major boss Minecraft mobs in a single run.
What followed was a brutal grind. On August 12, IShowSpeed and Kai Cenat beat Minecraft Hardcore, taking down the Ender Dragon, after already beating the Warden, Elder Guardian, and the Wither.
The final stretch of the Minecraft Hardcore marathon was anything but comfortable. Speed and Kai had spent hours gathering the Ender Pearls in Minecraft. Their biggest hurdle was finding the Stronghold in Minecraft. The duo wandered through caves and searched the oceans using their boat to find the exact place where the Eye of Ender stopped.
“This is the last fight,” Kai said as the pair prepared for the Ender Dragon. After a long round of discussion, the duo jumps inside the portal and spawns in the End Dimension for the boss battle, where IShowSpeed and Kai Cenat finally beat Minecraft.
The battle turned chaotic as they started destroying the Minecraft End Crystals on top of the Obsidian towers. With the Crystals out of the way, they started throwing everything they had at the Dragon, and its health kept dropping.
As Speed kept hitting it with bows and arrows, the health of the Ender Dragon fell to its final sliver. Then Speed drew his diamond sword, delivered a decisive blow, and sent the Ender Dragon crashing down.
The reaction was immediate, with the duo screaming and laughing at their own feat. “We did that, bro. All the pressure we’ve been through,” Speed exclaimed. This Minecraft achievement was particularly impressive because Hardcore mode offers no second chances.
Although IShowSpeed and Kai Cenat beat Minecraft, across the marathon the duo had accumulated 42 deaths, and that means every failed attempt required them to restart the run all over again. Throughout most of the latter part of their journey, they finally relied on the Totem of Undying in Minecraft to get a second chance in case they died accidentally.
Speed and Kai also credited their coach, Feinberg, one of the best Minecraft players of all time in speedrunning. After defeating the final boss, Speed even joked that they had expected the challenge to last much longer and had cleared their schedules for even a month.
