Gege Akutami came back with a bang with his new work, Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo. This is a new spin-off manga set in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe. Yet upon the arrival of aliens and new protagonists leading the series, everyone began questioning whether Gege Akutami’s new Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga is canon or if it is taking place in a parallel universe. Although Gege hasn’t commented on this question, we do have a definitive answer, as the JJK: Modulo series has finally ended after a six-month run.
Is JJK Modulo Manga Canon?

Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga is canon, and the sorcerer x aliens series is set in the same Jujutsu Kaisen universe. Although Gege remarked in the beginning that Modulo was just a spin-off manga, we can clearly see that Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo serves as a sequel to its predecessor, Jujutsu Kaisen. The JJK Modulo manga takes place 68 years after the main events of the Jujutsu Kaisen series, with Yuta and Maki’s grandchildren, Tsurugi and Maru, leading the series as the new protagonists.
It becomes much more evident when you start reading the manga, as the aftermath of the final war between sorcerers and Sukuna can be felt in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo. Without spoiling anything, some of the main JJK characters make a vital appearance in JJK Modulo. You can even learn the fates of your favorite characters as JJK: Modulo kind of acts as an epilogue we never got in the main JJK series.
In a nutshell, Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo manga is canon and is easily a must read fans of the main JJK series. Gege Akutami has brilliantly crafted a spin-off story that expands upon the sorcerer world rather than exploiting his magnum opus work.
